Trim painting

I am painting my grille and headlight surrounds satin black. I have an aerosol can of Nissan touch up paint for my color which is Granite, Nissan paint code KY2 and got to thinking - wonder how that silver bar in the middle of the grille would look if I painted it body color? I haven't seen anyone do this (apologies if you have) so I'm in the process. I will post pics when it's done. Curious to know what everyone thinks of the idea though.

So you take the KY Jelly and you put it on the....

Oh. KY2. Wrong KY.

Anyways, I think it'd look good. I have a Gen 1 So I dont have the neato silver bar, but I dont like how popping out it is. And the X has taught me to hate anything silver or grey. :p

It's YOUR X. Do with it what you wish. You can always paint it back to silver if you dont like it. :)

There are a few that have done it before...I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'll see if I can find you some pictures to get an idea. It looks good once it's done!

I will finish painting the rest of the trim over the next week, as time off from work permits. The center trim in the grille turned out nice. I had thought about doing this for a while; it's just the kind of mod I like - subtle enough to look original, but personalized for me. I think something will have to be done with that lower silver trim. It may have to be painted to match the rest of the trim.

Thank you Sir! Yes, I am pleased with how it turned out. Also pleased that I did not break any of the plastic clips holding the grille in - that's usually the kind of luck I have! Not sure about the lower trim color. I'll have to ponder thatone.

Looks really nice. I'd probably paint the bottom piece to match the lower bumper shroud. Not something that I'd like to draw attention to.
