Last outing I noticed that my rapid bleeder wasn't engaging the tire valve correctly. I bled them old school with a screw driver and light pressure and thought nothing of it....until i needed to air up my tires. Regardless of the tool i'm having issue inflating the tire.
What are my options for replacing the valve? Do I need to replace the TPMS? Can I pull the TPMS and put in simple tire stems and trick the computer to not throw a trouble light? cheapest quote i got was $75 a tire.
Are the threads messed up or is the valve core leaking?
The threads don't affect the ability to hold air so I'm thinking you might have a leaky valve stem core, that happened to me a few years ago and it was basically leaking air very, very slowly. If that's it they are really easy to replace, it's as simple as unscrewing the old one and screwing in the new one, you just need a valve core removal tool + a pack of new cores
like this.
If the issue is internal I'd say get rid of the TPMS, it's expensive to replace and the X only has the most basic version of it anyway. Mine stopped working correctly in 07 and a few years later I removed the gauge cluster to cover the annoying light for it. If you check your pressures from time to time (if you're airing up/down this is a given anyway) it's no issue. Not to mention our tires have such large sidewalls if a tire gets low on air you're going to have a hard time not noticing the drag on the low side.
