OK,I'm about a week or so away from doing BL and PML and went and had a talk with my tire guy. (actually owns the business).

He can put me in a set of these (Radar Renegade M/T 285/75 r16)

Yes their cheap Taiwan tires but.....

Gotta be at least decent.

Now I'm not above spending $ on good tires but I'm really thinking/leaning to doing the SAS thing but at least a year or more away, these could hold me for that time at least til I make up my mind.

(my tire guy will do 4 mounted and balanced out the door for $650 to me)

Anybody here ever run them?
Thoughts?

I was just talking to Tucker about these earlier today. They are a serious contender for the set I'm about to buy.

Remember guys, when you get cheap tires, you may end up with an ugly repair bill on more than the tire if they let go in a crappy way...not to mention you'll likely burn em bald much faster...

This is true, however where I am in my life and where I want to take my truck the tires I bought were the perfect fit. I have read the reviews on them and while I cannot vouch for those rugged looking Radars, I can say that the Kendas I got were reviewed to wear like iron, and with the proper rotation, I hope to get many miles out of this set.

I learned this the hard way with some Definity Dakota M/Ts I got on an awesome deal from Pep Boys. They were great for about 10k miles, but after that I couldn't keep them balanced for longer than about 150 miles. I didn't have an ugly repair bill, but having to get the tires balanced and the alignment done about every 2 weeks killed me for about 2 months...

I made the mistake with a set of peerless tire "wildcat ext"s, they're supposed to look like BFG Mud Terrain KM1's (the old school design) and they lasted less than 15k

When the back right blew, at 55mph, it cost a wheel, a tire, truck bed, and ruined the leaf spring pack on that side, the front left blew and almost cost us the whole truck cause nobody noticed the chunk that'd ended up between the exhaust manifold and the block...

x2 when I get new tires this spring the cost is going to kill me, but I will definitely be getting a well known brand of tire. IMO like stated previously if you get cheaper tires now you will eventually just be paying more down the road whether it's from premature wear or issues with balancing.

I have been thinking that when I finally wear out the Destination M/Ts I may go with the Destination A/Ts. I may however choose to go with a 35" M/T. Big Plans for the X in the next year since I am at ~39,000 miles and my warranty goes @ 42,000
