Power steering pump and gear box installation started tonight.. old pump and gear box is out.. Getting new hoses in the AM and putting the new parts back in..

After the power steering issue, I plan on tackling the possible head gasket/thermostat gasket leak. Loosing coolant constantly..

Then i'll look into the tick in the drivers side valve area..

Sounds fun right!?!?

....No

Hahaha no way.. I knew most of this, just things I knew I could fix. However the ticking didn't start till week 2 with it.

Sway bar link is broken.. Been broken for a while by the looks of it.. There wasn't a whole lot of inspection and maintenance on this vehicle I believe.

Could you blame the shop for the rotors and pads? Then sneak the hubs in as "collateral damage"?

The girlfriend got in a fender bender with the X. Bought an ARB bumper with the money from insurance..

Also bought some Warn hubs.

Nice man... I have had a issue with my Passenger side wheel bearing so my X is stuck in my Dads shop.. I was hoping to show you the hubs on...

Inner... I think when the old one failed it welded a little to the spindle.. The old one came off very easy.. NEw one is being a mother...
Driver side was so easy to fix.. I can not get the snap ring back on..

Nice. ARB makes good stuff. I have the tire deflator and some ARB 3/4" shackles. Can't afford any of their other stuff. Quality costs money though. Post some pics when you get her bolted up.

^Ditto this, cannot wait to see the pics after install (or during if you like, haha).

So far, how many repairs have you had to do on the new X since you got it? I forgot, how many miles were on it when you bought it? Still jealous of its color, so pretty...:)

75k engine
135k body

Too many...

Brakes, rotors, hubs, the entire PS system, sway bar link is snapped, rad hose leaked, centerlink, ball joints and possible head gasket leak.

Thats all I can think about now but i'm sure there is more..

That sucks dude. Seriously. I was always jealous of the color of her truck (and the XTERRA sticker down the rockers).

The good part of going through and doing all this work is you're learning this specific truck and also know you did all this stuff yourself for future repairs you'll know when what was done. It's bittersweet I suppose?

Those stickers are 34 bucks.. I just had some painting done on the vehicle and to blend the paint, we needed to also paint the door. They are 34 bucks though.. Buy em!!

Thats one thing i definitely missed about the old truck.. I turned almost every bolt on that truck. I'm slowly learning what is needed to be done and how it was originally done.

I'm not sure if i'm going to put it on this week or the next. I may be going upstate fishing this weekend.

Until then.....

I don't think she knew that all that was wrong with it.. Its okay though, I have the money and don't mind doing the work.

More power to you for doing it yourself!
At least the pretty X is in caring and capable (intelligent) hands now. :)

They are about the same as Shrock and a few others, the difference is the gauge steel used.. 10 vs 7.. I like the look better, just wish it designed for the 02-04's.. The light hoops are a tad low when compared to a 00-01 but it doesn't bother me one bit..

The arb looks much better on a first gen than second. That x already looks leaps and bounds better than it did.

X nerds unite!

Just wait till I put my sliders back on with my old tires and rims.. KC's are getting mounted on the bumper tomorrow and putting on my warn hubs tomorrow as well.

Ohh and a rear bumper in the next month.

JEALOUS of the color. Killer rig, dude.

Yeah I like the color, still miss my old color and wish I could paint it orange.. I was going to paint the old X orange before I totaled it.

Thanks guys!
