Yeah, I'm at the "random pieces are falling off and it's going to the mechanic for a spell" stage on the older X. Still, it runs and is very unlikely to cost us as much as a newer car to own and operate when you factor in the purchase price of a newer vehicle over say 5 or 7 years. Wifey really likes the X but is more concerned about reliability. So she gets the gen 2 to drive and a AAA membership. I'll get the gen 2 in another 7-10 years, assuming she doesn't wreck it. Then it'll be my next toy.
The deal all along has been she gets the newer cars and I get the older ones. And the banks get to go pound sand.
