As a former GM guy..... I'll agree that modern GM vehicles are junk.

My dad has a 98 Silverado that still looks brand new, and has over 200k on it. Still runs great.

I had a 96 Blazer that I bought with 72k on it. I had to put a new transmission in it, but then it was just normal stuff. Water pump several times, power steering pump, etc. It finally died at 275k.

Then I bought an 04 Colorado. Overall, it was a good truck, but I kept breaking hubs wheeling it. I had to replace both sides twice in a year. First time for bearings (non-serviceable), and again for wheel speed sensors (also non-servicable). With 190k and a mild misfire, I figured I'd cut my losses before it was too late, and found a frontier to replace it.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I grew up GM and AMC. Actual AMC, not post Chrysler AMC.

I don't want a post-2005 GM truck if I can help it. We back to the 80s. Transmissions cooking themselves, DoD wiping out engines, ect and all controlled by increasingly proprietary computer systems.

I've never been in a GM product I actually liked. Mechanically? Fine. Whatever. Yes the LS is cheap, plentiful, and can make good power. Wonder why LS swaps go into EVERYTHING ELSE? Because the rest of the GM car is hot ufcking garbage.

Some of the exterior styling is good, even great (C1, C2, 60s Camaro etc)

But the interiors are the absolute worst (though possibly better than Chrysler). Why is it that everything ufcking rattles on the interior? Why is the dash made of worse plastic than a soda bottle? Why do the seats feel like cardboard? Why was the C3 Stingray made to only fit a person that was 7ft tall? Why did the mid 2000s F-Body have a catalytic converter hump in the passenger floorboard that made it rediculously uncomfortable to ride in?

I've just never been happy inside one.

Back when it was young relentless
I had an xj that was hot ufcking garbage, then I had the amigo, then I realized a truck was best for my everyday needs, dug an 89 f150 with a 5.0 out of a junk yard and put a 2nd hand transmission in it and drove it to 390k before that old motor lost compression (apparently it’s still running around as a v7) jap SUV’s and ford trucks have never given me any problems and I feel comfortable in em and at home working on em sooooo
And all while I was racking up the miles on that 89 and others couldn’t go anywhere without the gm gang telling me my truck sucked. So someday imma coyote swap a c8. Cause ufck you thats why

Does four pounds of habanero powder qualify your home as an EPA superfund site? I have this image of wind blowing down a deserted street as a worker in a white suit reluctantly analyzes the air. The burned out frame of an old Xterra sits in the street, victim of the riots that ensued as residents blinded by pepper powder lashed out like wounded animals. A radio crackles and the worker responds with “I’ve located ground zero of the habanero spill…..”
