Stock speaker size front and rear

Hi Guys,
I am a 62 year old hippie of the past. I once really had a handle on sound systems, but that was long ago.
I have a 2000 X with the six speaker system. I would like to know the sizes of fronts and backs, as I want to replace them with new ones. I don't need a killer system, but would like a set of speakers that will work with the stock Fosgate stereo.
I would rather use ones that fit right in. I am thinking of using the Fosgate prime or punch speakers, but I know little to nothing about it.
Can you guys (now be gentle) recommend what I should do for a mild system with good sound quality?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Thanks for all you great help guys.
I had to change my name from Itsme Wayne to just Itsme, as no matter what I did it would not let me sign in with the old name.
It is the same ole Itsme though!

I am going to go with either JBL or Rockford Fosgate speakers. Any thoughts on which one would be the best?

I am leaning towards the JBLs, as I have never been disapointed by them, but really, I don't know much about Rockford Fosgate speakers, as I have never used them. Have you? and what are your thoughts on these?
Thanks in advance,
Itsme

The Fosgate speakers are pretty good, but the best advice I can give you is to go to an audio shop and listen to different pairs of speakers to find out what sounds best to your ears. I have a friend that is just as knowledgeable about audio as I am, and we can never agree on speakers. Everyone hears things a little differently, and a set of speakers that come highly recommended from many people may not sound just right to your own ears. Personally, I really like Polk and Kenwood speakers, but I've nothing negative to say about the RF or JBL's.

Agreed. I personally prefer JBL in the pro audio world, but have been happy with Tannoy or Genelec in the right room. It all depends on your ears and the 'room'. It also depends on the head or amp driving them, as they will color the sound as much as the speaker will.

Has anyone ever had to pull/replace the rear speaker wires? I need to relocate the rears and want to pull the wires back to the rear doors. Does anyone know where they ran them? I guessing under the rear door jams maybe...hopefully. I found the wiring diagram but not the layouts.

Yeah, the harness runs under the threshold of the door; the plastic bit with the annoying screw-pins.

Ok thanks... these big finger just love little plastic screws...lol. I took off the P/S panel this evening to find 2 wires 1 red, 1 black that ran into the harness. Didn't feel like taking out the platform tonight so I left it alone till another day. Not really looking forward to pulling them out of the harness. Think It'll be easier to disconnect them from the deck head and run all new wires.
