Sliders Really Needed?

So the guy who was going to build my sliders said he is swamped and can’t have them built by June 2nd. So I contacted many manufacturers and White Knuckle said they can guarantee me a set before seXTERRA Spring Fling (2 weeks) The only down side is I helped design the ones I was going to have built and I still really want those. That being said do I need to bite the bullet and buy the White Knuckles or should I wait? Can I get by without them for Spring Fling in June?

Lotta questions here...lol

1- Are sliders really needed? NO. However they do allow you to travel in areas that you would not go without them.
2- Buy or wait? That's a decision only you can make. Do you like the other sliders or your creation better?
3- Get by? I'm sure you can...might not be as much fun, but I'm sure they won't rag on you TOOOO MUCH if you bypass a few things.

Just keep in mind, If you pay for them as a shortcut just to have something and they're not ready in 2 wks...you're right back here where you started with no options.
How strong is the guarentee, What's the cost difference, Can you live w/o your own designed sliders?

You could always buy them now, build your own later then try to re-sell the others.

There I no extra fee to rush them. I told the guy there (John) my situation and he said he would help me out if needed.

I would rather be safe than sorry obviously, but once you get that involved it has a special meaning to ya lol

well if you get the white knuckle ones and then plan to sell them later, I might be interested.. I have been looking for a set, and this summer job coming up will help fund them.. granted I am going to roll through the Spring Fling without them, as Dave said it isn't going to be anything too crazy, but like I said, I might be interested in taking them off of your hands at some point during this summer.. if you decided to go with White Knuckle for this run, then later get the custom ones.

I will make my decision tomorrow on this. At this point i’m thinking buy the White Knuckles, build the ones I want, and then sell these. Hmmmmm decisions decisions

What are the custom ones going to run you? I feel like that 500$ for the sliders is a bit high, but again I have been talking to friends about doing mine.

I have to go back and look at the quote but it was like $300. I do think $500 is high especially when I can go get a RLC front bumper for around $600 lol

Mine ended up costing me $187.62 for material and $22.30 for 2 rolls of Flux-core. I used up a roll just in practicing. And 1/3 of that material will be used in making the rear bumper.

I would wait and buy what you want.. Could things happen and you beat up your rockers? Sure.. But on the seXTERRA run I'm not planning anything too hard.. I know you know coal creek... 22, 27 and 26 in the plan.. 22 is long and scenic and at the end it's a nice little rock climb.. 27 has been old river bed.. And 26 has a sweet drop in that will make you grab the wheel tight.

So could things happen where sliders are needed.. Sure.. But for the June run.. You should be ok.. I ran Turk there many times with out sliders

Do this ^ They are nice to have but you can get by without them if you pay attention to your lines.
