Don't know on Precision but I replaced mine with the NAPA brand and they were crap. Replaced those with actual Dana Spicer (brand) 1310 u-joints and they are night and day in quality compared to a lot of others I have seen.

Local NAPA dealer. Just made it clear to them that I did not want a DS 1310 equivalent but a DANA SPICER 1310! Took a day or two and they are not cheap but well worth it over a NAPA brand or any of the other $10 to $15 U-joints.

I ran the Spicer 1410's got 67,000 miles from them. Tight joint way way beyond the cheap national brand which I had installed. Spicer 1410's were what my Xterra came with from the factory. I had sourced new ones via ebay.

With the Spicers gone bad I have since replaced them with the Moogs do to the short time frame I had to do the repair. To which my amazement (true hater of Moog brand parts here) they really seem of good quality. So far are holding up ok. They have a grease needle hole which may extend the life a bit as well.

Went with the spicers. Should be in on Friday. Looks like I'll have a nice weekend project.

Just for reference, what's it with the moog parts that don't meet your satisfaction?

The rubber or poly they use never lasts dry rots or cracks shortly after installation. Forget buying the upper ball joints they last about a week the redesigned ball joint they used is horrible others have had them break apart. Overall its just been bad quality issues. Only things I like so far are the lower ball joints and tierod ends even though the boots quickly break. The U joints as I said look great but I put them on 5 days ago so I can't really say.

That makes a lot more sense, anyone who is replacing the u-joints with greasable ones remember to put them in the reght direction so that they are able to move over the full range of moition. And spring thoes horns before before you install the driveshaft.

Correct, if you put them in backwards it will hit the yoke, or you will not be able to get to it. Depending on which one you are doing.

Also put them in the same angle this way you can easily find them without having to rotate the shaft. If you find one then you know the location of the other. The Moogs have the zerks in the caps which makes the accessibility better and probably ups the strength a tiny bit. The downfall is you need a grease needle as they are the needle type to prevent the driveshaft from being thrown out of balance.

I am getting a whine/hum from the rear of my X at highway speeds, it goes away when I let off the gas, and comes back when I hit the gas again. At steady speed with cruise set its always there. It is not there at lower speeds and never there unless drive-train is under load. You think this is U-Joint maybe?? I cant figure it out, i haven't found any play in the joints but this hum worries me. 03 Xterra 3.3 Auto Trans. 4wd. Stock.

That's almost definitely U-joints. Could also be pinion bearing, but I doubt it. If it is U-joints, you caught it early, before it starts to vibrate. Get under your truck and see if there is any play in the driveshaft. If you've any wiggle in the shaft without the pinion moving, it's time for new U-joints.

I know this is a very late answer to the original question, but O'Reilly Auto Parts sells Precision u-joints with a lifetime warranty.

Is there any way to check pinion bearing while im under it?

Yeah grab hold of the pinion shaft. Try to move it laterally left right. Should have no play. In previous experence with driveshafts if the pinion bearing is bad usually so is the pinion seal which usually slobers grease down the front of the housing.

I retract what I said about the Moog u joints being good in this thread. They are bad already and need to be replaced. Lasted only a few months. Spicer u joints or nothing as far as I am concerned.

Sounds like sound advice on the U-joints. I've never heard or read a single complaint about Spicer.

David, pretty much what Ben said about the pinion. If it wiggles at all, the bearing is going.

In Precision both joints for the rear shaft should be part number 354 and both joints for the front shaft should be number 369. This would be the same as Spicer 1310 front and 1330 rear. The bearing caps are the same size but the cross section is bigger for the rear at 3.620 inches compared to 3.218 for the front.

Forgive me for being a tad slow....i have a horrible vibration at 70mph...from searching the forums I have gathered it is most likely the u-joints. Just to clarify, I have a 2004 2wd. I figured i might as well change em all while the driveshaft is out...how many will i need for a 2wd and Spicer 1310 for all? Also what are your thoughts on greaseable vs non-greaseable?
