We all hate them, the rust, they break, and then they rattle. We all know how to remove the ones that bend around the curves of the exhaust, they are a simple 10mm or phillips head away from being ripped out. But what about the welded ones that protect the cats. I have mine rattling now at low RPM and its driving me nuts. How do I get these things off?! I am talking about the second pair of cats not the integrated header ones. I want to remove the rusted broken heat shields but can't see an easy way to do it. Help me out XN!

Could you fit a pair of tin snips in there and hack them to bits?

Ripped mine out with a prybar an pliers. Floorboards and transmission get hot now. But, no more beater buzz.

My Mechanic buddy, senior Nissan tech at one point, builds race cars etc, said get the pipe strapping with the screw tightener. but get it in the super long length... wrap the cat shield, tighten and cut off the extra. It works around cats. He told me which parts place carries it but I forget. The largest size pipe strap should work with exhaust.
