New Center Console

I'm considering doing a new center console similar to the X on EXPO. I just got an email back from one of the companies I'm considering and was wondering if somebody could do me a favor. I need these measurements for a 2nd Gen.

Please provide the measurements for the span between the front and rear seat bolts, and the elevation required to put the plate one-half inch above the floor.

I'm not sure EXACTLY what measurements you're looking for but from the drivers seat front bolt to back bolt is approximately 17" and from the low point of the console near the rear bolt to the top of the console is approximately 15 1/2". These are by no means perfect measurements but it's a starting point. The console actually raises up as it moves forward too. I think we need more information as to how much console is being replaced. I can do a better job when I'm home from work.

Thanks Mac I was thinking about doing from the auto shifter back. The second measurement is supposed to be from the actual floor to a 1/2 inch above the hump underneath the console.

Wow. That's confusing to me. We need to do some pics with the dimensions drawn out to make sure nothing gets lost in translation. I'll pull mine in the garage tonight and do that if no one beats me to it.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.

If you check out the one on EXPO where he did his swap I think the measurements will make a little more sense to you.

I was just thinking, if you are making a custom center console, why not implement a hide-away gun compartment? Just a thought.

Imagine a section of the side of the center console tilting out about 6" at the top, just enough for you to fit your hand and a gun in its holster in there. Of course, at an angle that does not make it awkward to reach for.

This is very involved so I would definitely get some better measurements if you're wanting to get this much work done. I can give you some rough numbers but I can't tell if this guy actually had the manufacturer there helping him or not.

Those consoles are primarily found in police/fire/EMS vehicles to store all the different radios, siren boxes, and light boxes. I've used the Jotto before SEVERAL times in the last 8 years and I HIGHLY recommend them. They take abuse extremely well and provide lots of storage options.
