I bet you are asking yourself - "I wonder if the VAXC has any events planned for 2014 yet?"


Well my friend, the answer is . . . YES!


Our resident fronty owner, the legendary Will, aka MANIMAL has been gifted these amazing maps apparently to wheeling friendly trails in GWNF. He checked them out this weekend and is insistent that we all go check them out.


So with that the first 2014 VAXC event is a go!


The meet up will be in Staunton, VA on January 18th. The time is up in the air at the moment, will be updated.


The where? The wilderness my friends, the wilderness. We will be wheeling our happy little Xterra owning butts all over different trails in GWNF. So bring your cameras, bring your dogs, bring your friends, heck - I guess even bring your significant other (see my 2013 PC-ness?) if they are interested in having a good time.


The how long? Let's just put it till question marks. I mean, it will be in January so it might be too cold for some folks to camp. I know this is VA and all, but maybe a few of you had to do some patrols on the US/Canada border wondering the whole time why you were up there and can deal with the cold now (true story). It may or may not be cold, but either way we can have fun. Maybe even have like, a mid day pull up for lunch around a fire? huh? yeah? I think so!

Well this blows monkey nuggets. I will be in Orlando that weekend. I was just talking to a buddy of mine about how I wanted to go back to the GW.

F.O.R.C.E. is the Frontier club here on the east coast. They are lead by our resident Fronty, Will - aka MANIMAL. They are a new club but they are good guys.

GWNF is an awesome place to do some primitive camping and wheelin all day for free. All the trails are just above easy with the moderate challenges just off the beaten path, a sort of swim at your own risk. I see the group trip planned for next weekend and it looks like they are exploring the Lee Ranger district with Peter's mill run. That is a super easy trail that any stock vehicle can do. Its also over by some ATV trails with a nearby campground you can camp at. If anyone prefers a more primitive location with more areas to explore in a day or weekend, let me know and I will tell you a great place to go. Anyone who can't make it this weekend and/or wants to do it again the following weekend 24-26. My monthly convoys are going out there then. I have some returning nubies, and we will be exploring flag pole knob and meadows knob. The route is a good mix of mud, water and rock. All easy to moderate. Stock vehicles will have no issues.

I wont be able to make it. I am on call with the hospital. There's always hope for February (or warmer weathers...).

I can't make smplone's run either. Always next month for that too.
