Every time I see that front bumper I think it's the coolest one I've seen. One question, though - I don't see a rad skid there and I do see the bottom of the radiator. Any concern with it getting damaged?

TITAN SWAP!!!!! (I'm excited for me!!)
Latest mods: Finally had sunday to finish up all the things I couldn't get to a couple of weeks ago during my week vacation when I took the titan swap project on (by myself). Some long 14 to 16 hr days...

Off comes all the PRG advanced coilover kit components after 5 yrs or so of hard use. Everything pretty well worn out.

Man the frame looks fugly! Went up to O'reilly's and got a 3" cup brush for the die grinder and went to town once everything was off and cleaned it down to metal. Coat of primer & black and we're SO much better! M205 w/ ARB locker installed, LCS, tie rods. Damn if both old rear LCA bolts weren't seized and I had to sawzall them both off!!!

One side all complete and have installed radflo hydraulic bumpstops and poly-performance 14" limit straps (ended up having to double the limit straps as believe it or not, the 7k rating still stretched too far). Everything cleaned up and re-painted along the way. Brake lines installed and anchored into the back of the spindle to keep everything away from the tires, even the remote rez radflos had to be tucked in tight.

In the back, the m226 had some rework as well. New dropped and gusseted HD lower shock mounts so I could get all the travel out of the Fox 26" shocks for max travel & articulation. Raised up all the e-brake and brake line mounts & the abs sensor mounts for full articulation w/o pulling on anything. As always, had to add dimple dies to everything that I could. Timbren bumpstops up top for a cush stop at full compression. PRG U-bolt flip kit & diff cover too.

Testing the flex of the alcan 3" 450+ springs, shock travel & droop, and making sure everything extended or compressed without problems.

The Alcans are flexible, Very flexible!

Had it up to the point of just balancing on two tires. Everything looking good except for some future front fender trimming soon.

Still gotta install the viair ultra OBA setup so I can hook up the front locker. Rear locker now working now. At least off-road worthy again.

Just love the way it looks and rides! Can blast about any dip or curb at high speed and it just soaks it all up!!!!! :tunes:

So, List of things on this round of changes:
New M205, with ARB air locker installed.
Titan CV's
Moog LCA's
Moog inner & outer tie rods
Rough Country UCA"s
Radflo 2.5 w/remote rez coilovers
Radflo 2"x2" hyd bumpstops
Poly Performance adjustable bumpstop cans
Poly Performance 14" limit straps with upper mount kit
PRG stainless brake lines
PRG u-bolt flip kit
PRG cam bolt kit
Fox 2"x26" remote rez shock from Greg @ prg
Timbren rear bump stops
M226 out of a 2012 w 11k mi.
2" wheel spacers in rear
Alcan 3" rear springs w/450# cap.
PRG rear shackles
Rear driveline modified by Seagull Diesel w/parts from Tom Woods
E-locker harness for m226 locker switching

Next up:
4:56 gears
2" BL
35" tires
Finish OBA install
2nd battery in rear
LED perimeter lighting on new roof rack (in works)

Just lots more over landing gear, mods & accessories!!!!

That front bumper and roof rack are amazing! So is the rear bumper, but I'm sure I've told you that before. Man, I wish I had the skillz for that!

Been waiting on your build since I saw your welcome thread just so I could ask you where you got the bumper...now I know, That sir is a very sweet tube bumper, the rear is kool too but the tube work along with the plating is something I have been wanting to get for my X too.

Very sweet looking X.

Thanks for the responses.
Yeah. The bumper is quite unique and I really didn't have a plan for it when I started. Something prerunner looking with a winch in it. Just started bending pieces around a winch and that's where I ended up. The plating was quite slow work and I'd just bought the dimple dies & hole saws to go with it, so I had to utilize those.

Was really a PITA to build and overall took me about 2 weeks on it (not full time). Ended up quite happy with the results though, but definitely don't want to build another unless somebody donates me a CNC tubing bender so I could make exact consistent bend sections and make it worthwhile to produce them. A hand operated bender is just too slow, as is the fitting.
I use to do a few roll cages for race cars, but peope don't appreciate how much labor goes into them, so I quit building them for a while, only doing the occasional bumper..
Here's one I did for my F350

I've always enjoyed seeing all the cool and neat things you craft. I dunno who you were showing your roll cages to, but if they were anything like the stuff on your X, they must have been pretty darn awesomely made. :) I won't lie, I'm jealous of those skills. Kudos!

Finally got around to installing my LED tail light housings I got a week or two ago.
Package didn't have any instructions in it, but housing looks just like the factory unit, with a duplicate wiring harness with plug, right down to the wiring color-codes being the same.
Pulled out one of the stock housings and noticed that the plug goes thru the sheet metal by at least a foot, meaning the connector plug will require having to remove the plastic corners of the cargo area, including floor and storage compartment (a several hour project I was not pleased about).

Took another look at it yesterday morning, and deciced snce I'm very good at wiring, soldering, etc I'd just cut the stock harness outside the sheet metal & grommet and solder/heatshring the wires to avoid all the vehicle teardown/reassembly.
If I needed to go back to stock for any reason, just re-connect the same way. Soldered and heatshrunk connections are very permanent and watertight, so no worries.

Took me all of 15 minutes to connect each side and reinstall the lights. I'd already installed some 30 smd LED backup lamps a few weeks ago that were quite bright. I then ordered some 68 smd LED's tht will fit into the housings and hopefully be even brighter!

Splicing the wiring onto the new tail light housings:

Leaving the range last night w/backup lights on. Way brighter than the stock lamps.

Haven't heard of anybody having any problems with these at all, so I thought I'd give them a try. Like the LED lamps as they're much brighter and catch peoples attention with things like braking, turn signals, etc.
Wasn't impressed with just the bulb upgrades too much.

The new bumper will have 2.5" round LED backup lamps in it, so I wanted the tail light housings to also have LED to match. I think I'm going to be plenty bright, but will also be adding LED perimeter floods to the new roof rack eventually, though those will be separately switched.

Very nice sir but did you say something about a new rear bumper? You building another one or buying something? What is wrong with what you got now?
Is that too many questions in one post?

The one I have is the original one I built and then started producing from that one.
Thru about 4 revisions now and I want one with a gas can mount in it.
Already building one for a friend and will do mine shortly thereafter.
Will also have LED backup lights in it.

My old one is getting a couple upgrades, re-powdercoated and going to another UXOC member.

Wow, I cannot believe how bright the back up LEDs are! Good mod, I may have to do the same.

And rear bumper with gas can holder for the win! :) I'm sure yours will look awesome as usual.

Finally something new to add to my X.

After building everybody new bumpers all the time, I took the day to assemble one I built for ME a couple of weeks ago that just came back from the powdercoater.
Now I have one with the LED backup lights and license plate light!!!

The other "original First one" I built's finish was fading a bit (not the same PC we're coating with now) and didn't look so good as compared to the newly coated ladder.

Even got around to installing the new rear armored diff cover I've had setting around for a year or so...

Need to do some clean up on the rear axle now. Cut off the old swaybar tabs and repaint the housing.

Need to update the old bumper with a few new items and sand down/ re-coat for another local X who is taking it.

IMG_3506.jpg

Gotta finish modifying a bracket above the diff cover for the e-brake cable. Install the trailer plug & harness.

Installed my adjustable shackles on the rear while we had the rear bumper off to level it out again. AAL's have settled in 3 yrs+ of use, but don't want to invest in a new set of rear springs until I do the full titan swap.

Night pics of it with all the LED"S on the back side

I've always thought your X was one of the best out there. Such a nice clean modding job and now that it's TS-ed, the stance and look of it are even better (however that was possible). I am admittedly jealous of your X. Too bad you don't make rear bumpers for Jeeps, haha!

Keep up the awesome work!

NEW Bumpers!

So a couple of months ago, I finally got around to building ME a new rear bumper, ala the gas can carrier model, as I was going to need it on an extended off roading trip of about 350 miles between fill-ups.
Got it, used it and it worked out GREAT!!

Tried out a shovel & axe mount behind the tire, after being informed from a buyer that it would fit back there, and it did nicely!
Added the 3 LED marker lights to the swingarm.

Then needing a new front bumper so I can do body lift / 35's as the old one is not adjustable, and I didn't want to hack it up to make it work.

LED's!!! Even added some 9w lamps in the wings as daytime running lights, as so many new cars now have.
