===> Just an awesome thread and build! I will be using my new '14 Pro-4X for camping and woods running to get to fishing spots off the beaten path here in New England, and after watching this build am Jonesing for some Mods!

Nice work, Mac!

Thanks so much! It means a lot to hear that. I am excited to see what you do with yours after hearing your job description and truck plans. 33" Tires and melt mod are absolutely two of the best two mods to do.

Got my trailer harness all hooked up and only ran into one problem really. The plug wouldn't fit through the hole on my bumper so I had to use a dremel to cut some excess plastic away to make it sit flush.

I cut a little too deep in a couple of spots so I went ahead and wrapped it in electrical tape to keep it water tight.

Now I've got to go buy a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter and I'll be able to check if I did things right. I gather that the additional connections in my kit are for relays at the kick panel of the passenger front seat for trailer brakes, correct?

Yeah, It is normal having to trim all that plastic off, When I bought my 4 to 7 pin I bought one with a tester built in. It was more expensive but I like it as I don't own a trailer to test on and it helps diagnosis if there is a problem if it is the trailer or the vehicle. This way I can test everything before I go rent or borrow someones trailer then look like an idiot when my lights don't work. I know you can use a volts meter but it was just easier.

Mac, please correct me if I' am wrong but I have always been told that the T harness and relays are needed to make the lights on the trailer work properly. Have you found this to be true or not?

My lights worked whenever I hooked it up. Now, one of the stupid lights on the trailer quit working whenever a connection got messed up, but the other light worked just fine. I'll let you know whenever I replace it tomorrow. I am using an adapter for the 4 pin connector on the trailer if that has anything to do with it.

I only think the reason I could feel it was because of the small tires. At least I think that's why, it was pretty loaded down with water and gear. I'll probably be selling the trailer and looking into a popup with ac and heat for future camping. We'll be staying in cabins for the next several years while our kids get to a more "camping manageable" age.

Yeah the X should be in the garage over the escape... Just sayin

I kicked myself out actually. I said I'll take the garage when the frost starts so I don't have to scrape every morning. I'm already late by a couple of minutes on a regular basis.

She really didn't want to take it but I can handle the heat when I load up, I don't want her and the kids to have to deal with that.

Cold is cold though and she won't go out as much in the winter.
