Load Range 'E'

Does everyone run with the 10 ply tires? I have 6 ply Coopers on my X right now, and will be ordering some 33" tires. I am still undecided on which tire, but there are usually two options, 8 ply or 10 ply. I am wondering how bad the ride suffers with those 10 ply tires? The X is still my commuting vehicle.

There is no real reason to go any heavier than a load range c for the weight of the X and cargo. I used to run load range d BFG at's, I am currently running load c. if it were a 1 ton it would be a different story. you will get a heavier sidewall, and a heavier load capasity but the capasity of the tire is so much higher than the truck that it can start to get counter productive. They cost more, are less flexable, and can burp a bead easier than a softer carcas.

Everyone has to make the decision as to which properties are best suited for themselves.

I've got load range E KM2's and I love them to death. in their defense, it's the only grade the 265/75R16's come in, and, popping their bead will be a great challenge, since the tire shop had great fun trying to get them to seat because the bead's a reinforced one, and was so virgin tight....that and the wheels on the OR apparently have "Great Beads" as I was told if I ever pop the bead on those I was doing something very very Very VERY VERY wrong....

as far as ride comfort, I keep them at 35psi and they're actually a smoother ride than my stock rugged trails were. also, I have much less tire bulge from the weight of the vehicle itself...my stock ones always looked like they were low in the front because they sagged too much...

My trail grapplers (295 70r17s) are 10ply and heavy as sh*t...but so far so good I guess. I might think about dropping down to a 285 and a lighter tire next time.
