First of all, HI EVERYBODY! I have been busting my rump at work and still doing the school thing as well, so I'm sorry I haven't been around as much.

Now, said rump-busting has kicked off Phase II of Liam's progression and the next shopping list is extensive. I really just want to bounce what I have off of everyone and see if I'm missing anything or any other options.

The List:
- Fiberglass front fenders (4x4Parts/AC) *Optional/Haven't decided
- New Torsion bars (4x4Parts/AC or Rugged Rocks)
- H233B Ring & Pinion @ 5.142 (4x4Parts / AC)
- R200A Ring & Pinion @ 5.142 (4x4Parts / AC)
- Total Chaos King Kong Steering Kit (Chaos Fab)
- Heim-Joint Tie-Rod Upgrade (Chaos Fab)
- New 15" wheels (Black Rocks or CL Desert Runners)
- BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2's OR Wrangler MT/R w/Kevlar's in 35x12.50R15 flavors

The fenders are *optional* because since it's a pure weekend rig now, I don't mind gettin' freaky with the sawzall. Also, I just can't decide on the tires, I hear awesome reviews on both, and the prices are so close from 4wheelparts.com (BFG's @ $211.99 v. MT/R's @ @202.99) that I'm still not sure... Welp, there it is folks. Critique, complain, clap or contribute, all input is GREATLY appreciated.

Brief rundown of current gear:
AC 2" BL, AC 3" Suspension with UCA/AAL/PML, Ranchos and currently run 33" on 16's (Details can be found in the sig link to the build thread)

Also, yes, I know what a SAS is... this is more where I want to be with it right now considering the "out-the-door" price of both options.

Thanks everyone!

The gears can be bought from rugged rocks for a better price and I'd buythe tbars there too.

Great list. I know nothing about First Gens, so I have no input. But from what I've seen you do to tie rods, you better beef those up the best you can.....

Yeah, little more expensive than 3" lift with sway away, but not as expensive as sas. Still maintain on road handling and can run fox coilovers. That will be the route I go IF I buy the truck.

TC kit and sas are about the same cost. the TC kit doesn't come with the coilovers, or 4wd axle shafts. Adds about 1k or more to the cost of the TC kit. Definitely should buy $1200 steering upgrade as well to survive. I'd like to think it would ride amazing but with the factory leaf springs out back it would ride quite similar to stock. Even if it did handle like a trophy truck it wouldn't have enough horsepower to really take advantage of the suspension. There is a reason I've only seen one Xterra ever with the TC kit installed, its extremely costly.

Looks like a good list you've done your research well. I'd recommend a set of 15x8 aftermarket wheels. The 15x7 Desert Runners though sexy might be a wee narrow for a 12.50 wide tire. Though there are people that run them without issue. I even found the performance with a narrower 11.50 tire to be a little odd in the wear department on DR wheels. DR's Likely won't have enough backspacing to clear the frame when flexing in the back either. Either way it will be tight and cutting will be required.

The SAS can be done much cheaper.. I'm under 2k right now.. I still have some things to buy buy all said and done it will be less than 3k invested.

Now if you want to drop 1800 for the calmini kit + coils + 800 for there axle + axle it's can get high.. Mine may have taken longer to get started but if your patient you can find parts cheaper..

35s on the get ifs has been done before..
I'm not sure I'd recommend it but here to you for trying.

The heim-joint tie rod assemblies come with the full Total Chaos kit, so you don't have to buy both :)

That's what I was thinking as well. They're great wheels but just not technically practical. That being said, (And yes, I'll post this up on CL finds as well.) here is a great deal on some DR's: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/pts/4591104673.html I'm currently looking at the BFG's on ProComp Series 97 15x8 wheels with 4.5" backspacing. I can get the whole package mounted and balanced at 4 Wheel Parts for $1140 out the door. Also, cutting doesn't worry me that much, as it isn't my DD, so that's a plus on any front.

As far as the SAS goes, I guess I just don't like going the "normal" route, after all, it's why I bought an X and not a Heep. In the long run the long travel CA's are more expensive, let's not mention the fact that I haven't installed lockers yet, but it's different and that's the part that interests me. The endgame here is that I want to have something unique, and mine, and that's why I love this stuff, and also why phase 4 is an engine swap.

Just a quick "Final Thought" Please, please, PLEASE do NOT turn this thread into a debate on the merits of the SAS, the TC LTCA Kit, or that any one person's opinion or build is stupid or some other childish nonsense and to balance the unentertaining seriousness of this sentence: boingo, boingo, whoopsy knickers.

Dunno... One can find harmony in the boingo, and whoopsy knickers I might have to register a TM on and a domain for "Paris Hilton" type events.

LESS BS increases FRAME clearance for the rears....its the fronts that less BS hurts in that department.

:D

7" rims work better off road even with 13.5" tires let alone 12.5" tires. You blow the beads more with 8" rims than 7" rims, etc. Some individual tires are better or worse in that regard...but that's the overall consensus.

I know the front was if those wheels are the 4.5” backspace he mentioned getting at his original post. He would have to do some real cutting due to that alone. The back does not look cut up like I have seen on two others running 35s. That is what has me more interested.
