Hey all,

A few of us got to talking on the VAXC's "book of faces" and we want to do some local wheeling.

Nothing too crazy b/c ECXC is coming up, people might be headed to Moab, and WENT is not too far away.

So any thoughts? We were thinking of doing something like Shoe Creek or Flag Pole, or both.

Could be a day trip for some and a camping trip for others.

Kinda looking at the weekend of Father's day.

Shoe creeks a nice day-trip ride.. I'm about 45 min from the bottom of the trail so I have run it at least a couple dozen times over the years lol

Not 100% set on a date. Kinda leaning towards end of June/early July. Really depends on when we do the Electrical Mod day.

Do you know of who else in VA is headed to that? A few peoples said so on the FB page. Scott had given me a lead to get a sign made for the VAXC, but I can't make it now (to ECXC, totally still making a banner though).

I'm planning on going to ECXC, but I always reserve the right to wuss out if it's 100 degrees and the hotels/cabins are booked. Not sure about Shoe Creek though, that's almost 4 hours from where I am...a bit of a haul for a day trip. Depending on the date, I might be able to get some friends on board and do some camping down in Shenandoah or something, but I'm a tentative right now.

Kinda bummed I wont be making it too ECXC, but maybe next year. I guess this would be a good "pre-ECXC" run or a stand in for the people who can't make it.

I just know I will have skids plates that need testing and I have been on pavement for too long.

2015 for sure. This year, not so much. M is due smack between both events (did you all plan that? Lol) on 8/16. So as much as I love wheeling and you all, kinda want to be around for my son, hope you all can give me a pass this time.

What are people's holiday weekend plans for the 4th? Would wheeling be in anyone's interest?

Yeah, I am still trying to get us to meet up to go wheeling. After all the mod days taking place in June, we owe it to ourselves.

I'd be interested. I might have to forego ECXC, and maybe WENT...starting fire fighter cert training in mid-July, and it runs every Mon, Weds, and Sat until the first week of December, so full-weekend runs may be out of the question for me for the rest of 2014.

I found out last year when you ask them if it's okay to make up classes because you are going off-roading, you get laughed at. Or, that's what they did here when I was going to go volunteer.

So a maybe, I like a maybe. Two maybes, looking for more biters.

12hr drive I think it is. They were so much cheaper it's worth the drive, plus I got a local buddy down there I'm gonna hang with for the weekend.
