So I'm out of school for a few days and it makes for a 4 day weekend. I know the seXTERRA run is coming up and some others but I'm thinking about going to lbl on one of these dates. March (thursday)15th, (friday)16th, or (saturday)17th. Im not sure if Id be just going to the off road park for a day and then coming home or camping there for the night. If I went on saturday most likely I would not be spending the night. Also the only way I'm going to make this trip is if I can get at least 1 other rig that will drive the trails. Since I'm 4x2'er and they are saying there is a 30% chance of rain we would not be doing hard trails. Ive never been to lbl ohv park before but I do know they have easy/moderate trails that are 4x2 friendly.Right now I have 1 person that would ride with me. So if you are interested let me know cause I really want to make this trip.
Vote for a day...sorry its a late notice but I just thought about doing this.

Paris isn't to far right? Cause I think ryan davenport is from there and said its not to far from Li
Lbl. I'm thinking it will be Friday or Saturday when we wheel. Possibly wheel Friday, camp then leave on Saturday....or camp Friday night and wheel Saturday.

This is still up in the air, I have a friend whose going but just to ride with me so I won't go unless I can get someone else to drive the trails.

Also if you have been to turkey bay are the trails clearly marks cause I've never been and don't want to end up on the wrong trail.
Like at Woolys the trail will sometimes split and I had no clue what was what.

LBL is not very well organized at all. They also don't use the same scale that most of us are used to. They have primary, secondary, and tertiary trails. The primarys are well maintained, the secondarys are partially maintained, the tertiarys aren't maintained at all except to remove downed trees. If it is wet out there at all, you will want to stay away from it as it gets very slick and you can very quickly get yourself in trouble. If you can't take a 4wd with you, I would recommend not going.

Aaron you need to come down and go to Woolys. I am wanting to go sometime here soon to see what my Explorer can do.

I thought about going to woolys instead but turkey bay is about 20 miles closer than woolys...plus xterradude said he'll be close to turkey bay and could go.
Its only a extra hour away from smyrna :)

Do you have that friday or saturday free to go wheel? If it means 1 more person to go then we might be able to figure something out

I would like to go sometime, but do't have the time right now to go. Plus I am trying to wait to see if it is ever going to dry up. It's way to muddy everywhere for me right now.

Thats true, considering all the rain our area has got I should call and see if its muddy or not...I don't care about getting muddy but I care about getting stuck since I don't have a rear extract point

I know what your talking about, do not mind mud, it's the getting stuck part I do not like. Plus I only have BFG A/T's so I know thay are not a good mud tire.

This is on there webpage.

"March 10, 2012

Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle Area & Trails are CLOSED, as of March 9, 2012, due to excessive rainfall."

I guess we pray it doesn't rain this week and I will keep checking the webpage/calling for trail updates. What day would work best for you? Friday or Saturday? I don't have anything planned for either days.

Right now on the 10 day forecast there is a 60% chance of rain monday, 30% chance of rain that friday and saturday we are looking at.

Kinda have to considering I'm 4x2 lol. If the "easy" trails are anything like the ones at woolys during nxm we'll be fine. I only had trouble on some rocks but I was able to get momentum and bump myself up them.

But if the easy trails at woolys would of been wet...I'd be SOL or have to use my skinny pedal!

We will see though. I'll update this thread on what I find out.

OHV trails re-opened this morning but there is a 40% chance of rain tonight, tomorrow, and friday. Im hoping they call the rain off so it won't be wet and I can have the peace of mind knowing I won't get into any trouble out there. Looks like friday is the day we might go. If they increase the rain or close the trails Ill update the thread. IF this doesn't work out due to rain I'm thinking of going and checking out "wishbone ranch" here in bowling green on saturday.

:RAWRx2: We would get the heaviest rain yet the day before we do wheel!?!? If cadiz got as much rain as bowling green did my guess would be the trails will be closed tomorrow or it would be soupy.

Aaron you should try out the LBL access roads. They'll be a little easier for you.

Well I haven't talked to xterradude today but we are supposed to go tomorrow! It's still soaked here in BG so I'm not sure. You should drive up!

I wish I could, and I would really love to, but I can't. School and work are both keeping me crazy busy this semester. I was just at Turkey Bay last week, and it wasn't too bad. It dries out there fairly quickly after it rains, and I rarely use 4wd at the park at all. Xterradude was here earlier today, and I can't remember if he said he was going to make it or not. He has no rear recovery right now due to rusty bolts. We couldn't get the trailer hitch back on without causing serious problems, and the hitch really needs some paint work anyways. You guys are both more than welcome to come down for a mod day on a weekend. I know that he has a few more things that he wants to do. As long as it doesn't require air, I've got it covered.

He's still up to go but after all this rain we re nervous its going to be really muddy. I guess Ill get up around 7 or 8 and call the park to find out if they are open and what the trail conditions are.

Well I guess today didn't work out. If it doesn't rain today I'm going to checkout our local wishbone ranch park. It looks like its only for big buggy's but its worth a shot to drive up and ask around.

Aftermath of Wishbone Ranch today! Got stuck twice and had a 4wheeler pull me out it was pretty embarrassing.
