Now, contrary to the photos it's not black, it's actually a very deep purple color. It does have some slight issues... such as having no interior panels and a very collapsed 30 year old suspension. however it's freakin' gnarly!

"smoooooke on the waaaterrrr, a fire in the sky..."

i like that rig!

Oh Prime... the first thing to go is the stock suspension. it's so collapsed that the front springs are more like beams that attach the front axle. that said it will be getting 4 inch springs as soon as I get my tax return. which ought to be in the next couple weeks. My mom has said that for my Birthday (#18 =D) she is going to hook me up with the interior that this thing needs and maybe some window regulators.

So basically the mod list is as follows...
1. plates
2. interior and windows that work more efficiently
3. lift because my back can't handle the ride
4. rebuild the front axle, it currently needs to be gone over, it's original from 1985 it looks like
5. a) 35s and a regear to 5.29
b) new bumpers. the ones it came with are welded on and would do exactly nothing in a wreck or on a trail
6. make it pretty; lights, winch, cb, more stereo, new seats, etc.

A guy local here owns a company called killer toy tops. Makes the best damn soft tops specifically for those early gen yotas. Look him up on Facebook or instagram. Think his name is kirk, good guy. If you need a new top, at least.

Is there a consensus that I should just build this here, that's kind of what I'm sensing. Kind of the wrong truck however

We appreciate builds of all sorts. It may not get the traffic as a Yota site would bring, buy we would all live to see what you can do with it.

This is about the best auto forum that I have found, it's the best organized and has one of the best communities around. I really like that there isn't a bunch of reposts for stupid questions like what's the best lift how big of tires can I run etc. I can't stand that stuff. the traffic doesn't bother me, build threads are just fun for me, and a good way to document what's done and get feedback. SO without further ado we'll do sick X 2.0 I suppose.

Yea I was looking at that earlier. That's probably where I'll end up. Although not as fun.

Being honest though it's a 4runner. So even taco world isn't for me. All the yota forums are so cluttered. It's depressing. I like it here. Just bought the wrong truck. Better, but wrong

Haha yea Jack and I were getting it put into the X and went to roll it over and messed up a bit. It worked out well. I got a hold of some tools and cut it down for no body lift and welded it back up. It was fantastic until the truck got totalled. I'm glad to see your truck got bigger. Watching it grow was cool

Also worth mentioning. Let's see who has the better SAS! Wheel the X and I'll wheel X 2.0. Well after it grows and can flex a bit

LOL, it is all fun til you til you hit a dip half way around a corner going 70mph. It is where the fun starts..

Make sure to ask questions, you have an advantage on knowing where I live. I will not say much about builds on a forum. The thread goes the the wrong way every single time.

Believe me, lessons, little tweaks, big no no's have all been learned by building (Not only reading about it on a forum!) in the past.

I wish there was a rating for how rigs work. Like a "Wine Spectator" rating for wine. Folks get wound up with how cheap, how much flex, or having more stickers/stats than others. There is however not a rating for "Drives like a$$".

Sometimes a person needs to step back and ask themselves. Why with billions of dollars of research has Chevy, Ford, Jeep, Dodge, and other manufactures not built a rig with the suspension you see on some of these rigs. Being these manufacturers probably know their stuff, a person logically learns more by setting under a "Bone Stock" F-250 or Jeep Rubicon than under someones home-brew junk.

Haha when I say SAS I mean my T4R lol, the stock springs have collapesed with age. They're stock from 1985. That said I'm going to take on the little bit of lift I want while at the same time gaining some ride-ability I hope, mostly in that it currently rides like a lumber wagon. I'm not sure, I'm going to see where it goes. I've got some plans we'll see how they work for the rig.

I'm excited. Just lots of work ahead. I'm actually headed to jims tomorrow to get an interior for the rig as my birthday present.

In other news since 2:14 this morning I've been a legal adult, so that's pretty cool! Don't really know what to do now though. It's weird knowing that my childhood ended because I changed numbers. But happiness ensues I suppose!

Just because you're technically an adult doesn't mean you have to turn in your adolescent card. Just ask DRB

So I have an actual question to put to the community, when I hit a large enough bump in the road my stereo turns off for a second and then comes back to life, what could that be? I'm thinking a short but I thought I might ask before I jump off the deep end and start messing with wiring.

Opinions! Por favor señores y senoritas

Has to be a loose wire somewhere. Probably on the accessory hot power. If it was the battery hot power then the radio would lose all its setting every time that happens.

Well it's in demo mode I don't know how to get it out, it didn't come with the manual. It was already installed so it may be losing everything. It does come back to auxiliary though, so that's something

I figured out my radio, thank you Prime for the idea of tuning it and seeing what's what

First off, the antenna wasn't connected and it received like... yea...
Secondly, holy crap!, talk about a rat's nest! one of the previous owners that put the radio in cut half way in to the factory harness and just kind of halfway wired in new speakers. It's a complete mess. That said though what the problem is that the dash is a little worse for wear and the clip on the wiring harness for the radio is broken so every time the dash moves and the radio bounces it disconnects for a second and that's my cutout.

On the flip side I have some kick ass front speakers and some rear 6x9 a buddy gave me.... it will get interesting quick

Also a new mod has come about. I have standing water under the carpet from something, probably an unfilled bolt hole or something. As a result my carpet is nasty on the bottom. I am bed lining the whole floor pronto to put an end to any problems that may arise from that.

I'm also almost able to go back to work after having mono for a month so I will have a significant amount of mod money coming soon to a toyota on this forum... lift gears and tires any one?
