Thanks guys, glad to see I am getting a few comments! Alright not many more pics coming but a few yes, so let's get an update!
So shortly after leaving the mine we headed on over to Gold Hill for our last stop before heading into Wendover.
It's going to be hard to read but here is the old warn out sign about Gold Hill. At one point during WWII the city had 3000 resident's the primary source of mining was for Arsenic to be used by the military. After the war only a few stayed to continue mining you guess it... GOLD
At the heart of town is The General Store, an old remnant of the past which didn't close all that long ago. You can read up on the town
here or google it.
Looking inside you will notice most of the roof is gone and the floor is very unstable...
The old doors now boarded up if you notice someone had put "Stay out" on the sign at one point
An old matress, not sure if the owner of the store had it there or someone brought it in
While some of us took pics and walked around most stayed and talked at that point of time most people just wanted to get going
My photography teacher was quite amazed at this picture
In fact he wanted to know exactly where Gold Hill was so he could go check it out
Here is looking into the basement, not much down there but I wouldn't mind going in with a metal detector and seeing if there was anything down under the dirt (too dangerous)
Looking around town some operations are still on going
This particular mine I believe the biggest of them has been flooded for years and closed
Had to get a nice picture looking back
The backside of the store
There are some really interesting mines around this place but you need to be respectful and not annoy the residents
While you could sneak in there isn't much inside anymore
However looking up towards the main floor you can see the old vault
I believe this was the main storage or managers office
Well everyone was to get back to wendover and get some dinner, we headed on in and got there right at dusk, we saw some beautiful clouds just change colors as we drove and got to enjoy the subtle colors, after arriving we all gas'ed up and aired up at the local Chevron (they have free air)
Told Justin to smile
Rob
While everyone was either heading back home or off for more adventures, Justin and I would be staying in town! Totally worth it!
Although Low Light and Night Photography is my hobby I didn't fee like breaking out the tripod but I did snap a few pictures
Waiting inline to air up
Eric headed on into Neveda to go check out some property he had, I feel bad we kept him all day but I think he still enjoyed some of the trip
Don backing up, FYI that is Max-Gear bumper with backup LED's
After getting aired up and before everyone all went their separate ways we did get some food at Pizza Hut
I will save my last 2x pictures until later
