Hey everyone. Welcome to my build thread. My name is Kristen. I drive a 2000 Nissan Xterra SE in Aztec Red. I bought the truck back in 2009 with 68k miles and one previous owner. She had been babied and only driven as a carpooling vehicle. Since buying her that day, and finding all sorts of forums and clubs across the interwebs I've found a new love in my life; I call her my girlfriend [it's a lesbian love of sorts], my Xterra. We've been through a lot so far - and here's her story.
In the beginning:
I don't remember exactly what my first mod was to the X, but I think it was getting the AUX lights working on the brush guard.
Next came the removal of the step rails & a lovely detail bath.
Before I knew it Jenny [the name I've given her] and I were off on your first offroading adventure in Troy, NC at Uwharrie National Park. Everything was still stock at the time - so we took it easy, but again she surprised me. I had taken my sway bar off just before we left town, and obviously aired down a bit.
Her first time really flexing everything out. =]
Took a couple more wheeling trips, but don't have many pictures due to the fact we spent most of the time fixing my ex-'s Toyota that had broken a couple of joints in the rear axle. [Hince the random tire leaned up against the back of the X.]
The real bites from the mod bug:
I repainted the faded plastics using Flynn's Blacktastic. It's a fairly inexpensive wipe on paint. A sponge, gloves, and a couple of layers later everything looked like new. Its lasted really long too, so I suggest it to anyone who has the time and doesn't want to spray paint.
Next mod was a set of Calmini HD shackles.
Her very sexy rear end has had some work done as well [aka stickers]
New tires - Cooper Discoverer ATP 265/75/16s on a
set of 1.5 gen wheels a fellow Xterra club member gave to me and I painted black with Rustoleum Bed Liner. She's got 152k on the odometer and she runs great.
