So - I have a little down time waiting for my Titan Dif to return. I want to install my Titan Upper and lowers at the same time so while my LCAs have been laying around I've decided to strengthen them a bit like Oregon did. But I went a little farther and decided to Box them.
Here's what I started with - an OEM Titan Lower (Bottom view)
OH and in the bottom of the photo you can see the material I'm using. 3/16" Channel and 1/8" plate
Top view
I started by shaving off the sway bar mounts
OK- Everyone at the shop went home for thanksgiving so i couldnt take any more pictures up to this point. But all i did was make a cardboard template for the top, drew that onto the plate and welded it up.
Front side: I cut a length of the 2" channel,I think it was 17". I cut the ends at the same angle to match the LCA. Then I tacked on and welded.
NOTE; Seriously, I am not a welder. In fact this is the very first thing I ever welded. My first weld are on this piece. SO YES That looks like a LOT of grinding has occurred Anyway im hoping my welding will improve.
Here's the bottom
AND because its the eve of Thanksgiving I can't finish this today - but here are some photoshop comps of what itll look like finished. Hopefully.

Stay tuned!
PROGRESS 12-23-09; Pass side done!!!
These are coming out as I wanted. Just a little more grinding and then prep for paint. Have to finish the Driver side next which should go quicker and now I've learned some shortcuts.
OH, and I weighed them. 15 lbs. stock - 30 lbs. boxed.
PAINTED, FINISHED and INSTALLED:
