Fog light wiring

Does anyone know if X's that did not come with factory fog lamps are wired for them? I guess the question is - do all X's use the same wiring harness? I would like to install fog lights and it would be a lot easier if the wiring was already in place.

I don't think so... Check under the bumper; there should be a harness with a 2 pin connector on it. I'll grab some pics after I talk to the kiddies.

They are not all pre-wired. If they did not come factory you won't have the function on the instrument stalk and the wiring to the fog light cutout will not be there.

Forgot about the control switch...

Best bet of you were not prewired is an OTTRAW switch and running a new set of wires. You'll only need to do one wire through the firewall, as everything else will be in the engine bay and you can tap into the ILL and an ACC line for the switch

If the wiring is there to the bumper all you have to do is swap out the stalk with one for fogs and throw a relay in, done this on a few other '90s-early'00s nissans. The wiring harness is usually taped up out of the way.

What lights do you want to run? The factory harness doesn't have much power..if there much more then a 35w light you will want to run your own wiring anyway

OTTRAW: Over the River and Through the Woods (yes, I messed the acronym in my original post). Company that does awesome aftermarket switches. www.otrattw.com
ILL: Illumination circuit. Only hot when the lights are on.
ACC: Accessory 12V supply. Only hot when the key is in ACC or Run.

Thanks for the clarification! Yeah, those switches are sweet! I'm thinking about ordering original 2004 fog light parts from courtesy in order to keep the original look to the truck.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for wiring the fog lights to work independently? Should I use the same hot lead as the headlights, since that wiring harness is very close to the fog light location? I think that would give me the option of having them on automatically with the headlights, but still be able to switch them off manually.

Just a matter of personal preference, but I like mine tied in with the parking lights. That way I can still control them with the headlight switch but also have them on as running lights without the headlights being on.
