Feeler: 1.5 Gen HID Projector Retrofitted Headlights

I'm nearing the completion of my HID build. Once completed I'll have an extra set of headlights.

I'm thinking about building another set for sale. These would simply be the retrofitted headlights. No bulbs, ballasts, or wiring. That way you guys can order your own HID kit with the bulbs and ballasts you want.

I'd like to do these as an all chrome set. In other words, leave the stock reflector chrome, install the chrome shrouds as they come, and ship em out.

I'd polish up the lenses to get rid of haze and put a fresh coat of flat black on the headlight bezels.

I'd be using the Morimoto Mini D2S projectors for a full bi-Xenon setup. Then once received the buyer can go to TRS and order their own HID kit for the D2S bulbs, ballasts, and relay harness. Basically, I'm going to do the hard part.

I'd be looking to sell them for $250 plus a $50 refundable core for your old headlights.

Once I do a chrome set, I'd be willing to paint the internals on the next set. I just want to do one as a baseline with no further mods.

Anyone interested?

Yeah. I'm thinking that's a deterrent for a lot of people. I can do flat black without too much drama. But colors are a PITA. I'd probably outsource that to get it done right and in a timely fashion. Which of course would cost money.

Its a good way to go, mine came out like this:

WAAAAAY better than the stock set up. Put in 55 watt AC, love it.

:D

Use those spares to install the projectors, and you have a real strong pattern with a sharp upper cut off so the light's on the road, not the oncoming cop's eyes, etc.

Some dude from Auto Zone was telling me that they don't make them for 1.5 Gen X's. I'm assuming by the way you guys are responding to this, that I am able to,

Yeah. Everything can be swapped out to LEDs except the headlights. Which is where these HID Projector conversions come in.

you actually can get led headlights now, lifetime led offers them. granted I think led headlights are still in their infancy as far as tuning and performance, projector retrofit is still a better way to go as of now.

I have seen those. But not for a 9004 that the 1.5 headlights require. And I've seen the outputs of some of them. Impressive for diodes. Still nothing compared to a HID though. You're correct though. LEDs of that caliber are in their infancy and eventually we'll be putting them EVERYWHERE.

actually the 1.5 gens use a 9007, lifetime led does offer a 9007 but I believe they may be the only ones.

bump for a good deal on a projector retrofit!

Remember: With LEDs, it's not just the diode, it's the optics as well. Dialight has an LED strobe setup that does 270,000 candelas.
