The first Stormtrooper

The day I bought it.. All stock 141,000 miles 7000.00 (4/09)

After reading up on a forum I decided the mod's would start.
The simplest mod.. Step removal / mud flaps

Its amazing how much taller the Xterra looks with out steps.

Look how clean.. It wouldn't stay that way for long.

Now I am not a fan of stickers on cars... This was a big step for me...

But when you consider how much Horsepower you gain... You want to add more and more..

When I knew the Xterra was going to be on trails a CB was needed. Found this used Cobra Ultra III on ebay for $18.00

But when I looked this up I found the basic "stick it where ever it fits"
I like equipment to look like it belongs in a car / truck so I came up with this... (LINK)

Now I like to see what a stock truck will do before really Mod'ing it out.. So off to my local off road park!

So now its time to fix Turk up.. Those worn out plastics needed to be dealt with.. Kryon Fusion to the rescue..

So I hear of a place called Coal Creek.. and how great this place is... I hooked up with a group of guys on CX and off we go.

Now two things happened right after the Coal Creek trip.. 1. I was "laid off" and 2. My wife found out she was pregnant
So the mod's would slow down faster than I would want... Time to get creative to feed the mod monster..
I added these 3.5" Northerntools.com lights.. 12.99 for 2

Why just have two.. 4 makes more light right
By Dec I had saved up enough money for my Poor man's lift (PML) Now I am not what you would call a mechanic.. I own tools and can fix basic issues.. but I was starting to get into the unknowns... Two minds are better than one right? So me and Xterror04 picked a day to PML our Xterras.

BEEFY!!!! AC or 4x4parts.com has become a place I like to deposit money from time to time..

Paint is cheap right? Time to get creative..
I started pulling the dash apart

Now for Christmas that year I was lucky enough to get some Hella 1900 6" lights. From all I could research there were 2 options..
A expensive light cage or a cheap looking light bar.. Once again this is where being broke and creative come to play in this build..

Cheap little recovery point.. 12.00 Harborfreight.com Its not as strong as some you can find.. But it works

My first snow in Turk

So now Im getting a feel for the mods.. I ended up adding 2 more Hella's on the roof.
and I found these Frontier Desert runner rims

Now I needed my winter wheeling fix.. I hit Woolys annual Toys for tots run..
and then in February 2010.. COAL CREEK TIME!
This run was MUDDY! some one dubbed it a mud bath..

After the Coal Creek trip I felt like more power was needed

Now I have seen the high dollar roof rack and have always loved the Expedition look. Those Baja Rack or even the Yakima
racks seemed out of reach for a unemployed land surveyor.. so.. BUDGET time.. Searching ebay I came across this

60.00 including shipping.. To date that was the last time I have seen this for that price too..

So now time to paint again... The black grill on the white Xterra never looked right to me..

The day I finished the grill I was searching Craigslist and found some used MT tires..

I bet my Xterra has seen more trails than this...

Added back up lights.

Went to woolys again

Started to paint the badges..

Made Creepy some money with this idea..

Now it was body lift time.. With the help of a local Xterra owner we lifted the X 2"s

I like the look of tools on the out side of rigs..but I use my tools for a living..(well did) I dont need them rusted up..

That May (2010) I wheeled with NOAS @ Coal Creek..

Painted the roof rack

Painted the rockers with bed liner

Hit Woolys in Aug (2010) This would be the last trip on those tires..

Then I found two sweet deals.. A member on NOAS was selling sliders from his Frontier..
They needed to be mod'ed but would work

Started College as a 36 year old.. Had to show the love

My last time at Woolys in Turk..
Dec 29th the tear down starts..

Then this happened...

I bought a Jeep because I couldnt find a Xterra in my price range...
Took Turk out for one last ride on a buddies farm

Ok for the reason why Id let my beloved Xterra go... Me and my wife had been going through a bankruptcy due to loosing my job in 2009. All has been going well till the Credit union decided to add 3K of a credit card debit to my Xterra and one more year of payments. (All fine print legal) Was told by my lawyer this is the only Bank or Credit union that does this. At this rate Id owe more than the Xterra is worth not to mention Id end up paying over 10K in the final price. Paid 6500 plus taxes in April of 2009. Ive asked and begged the Credit Union to Work with me and sell me out right the Xterra for the 5K I owed on it. (My Parents were willing to loan me the money I owed on the X to just pay it off with the bank.) The credit union seems to think I have no other options but to take the deal they gave me.. So at this point I have weighed my options and is set to let the SUV go back to the bank and let them figure out how they will sell it for the 7K they would be asking. Since I have filed a chapter 7, I can let all of this debit go.. and start fresh. Now for people that really know me this is killing me.. I love my Turk more than any car I've ever owned. I enjoy the fact that I have made a SUV that will keep up with all my Jeep buddies on the trails. This will not be the last for me and the Xterra.. That was the Turk story Now the Stan story...
