Discussion/Possible Trip

I'm trying to get this whole WKU (my university) offroad group going. So I posted about a potential trip. We get out for Xmas break the December 14th. So I was thinking we could possibly have a trip to Woolys that weekend. I would say wishbone ranch cause its in town but no one has really scouted that place before. I know the toys for tots run is in December and some others might be also. Right now we only have a few jeep guys from my college that would possible go. Then I've got a friend at Nashville auto diesel college with a jeep that might. So I wanted to spread the word over here to the great Xterra people. Plus y'all know Woolys better than I do. So I need people's input. Would the December 14th weekend work? It's open for discussion.

Oh and I'm not sure if everyone would want to camp since it would be so cold. If we decided not to camp I'd like for it to be that Saturday, cause that would probably be better for everyone.

Hey Aaron, I'm possibly in. Just need to let my schedule settle in a bit. I might possibly do a run to LBL sometime around Thanksgiving, not sure if you are up for that or not.

It's in Cadiz Kentucky. Western corner of Kentucky. I can't go for thanksgiving. Got family coming in town.
I've never been to LBL but I know a guy whose going to go with us that's been multiple times.
It won't be anything to bad just light to moderate trails. I think he said they are access roads actually. Ill find out more and keep y'all up to date.

Ive been to woolys but it didn't offer much mild stuff for my lack of 4x4 and I'm wanting to check lbl out so bad.

LBL will be perfect for your 2WD, most access roads are just uneven, rutted, or muddy, but not much requires the front end pulling. There are spots it's needed though occasionally, but it's not the normal for those roads.

Snuck out yesterday for a quick LBL run. I ran some of the access roads / trails, not the Turkey Creek OHV Area. Didn't have time to do them all. Airmapper is dead-on, 2WD vehicles will be fine. There are one or two sections where things are a bit rutted and might require some extra effort (tow strap) but otherwise don't see a big problem for 2WD.

Thats awesome to hear. Access roads are free correct or do you still have to pay to get in. Worth going back? :)

Definitely worth going back. I didn t cover all the trails, plus I would like to check out Turkey Creek at some point. With some planning we could figure out a loop that predominantly runs on the more interesting trails. Trails 374 and 375 were my favorites. Cost is zero to run the access roads. Maps with the access roads are $3. There is a fee to get into the OHV area at Turkey Creek, not sure how much.

I had my Escape on 374 once but had to turn back. (Already hung it up once that day, didn't want to try for round #2.) I have been wanting to take the X back and finish it.

$15 for Turkey Bay IIRC. I've had the X in there, it's cool but would be most fun with a modded X. I don't plan to go back until the Bronco can go. The way the trails are it's either tame or body damage, not much in between for fun but not tear your rig up, especially stock.

All maps are free on LBL's website, but I have a paper copy I keep in the X. The MVUM is also on the website, it says where you can be and when. They are not bad about closing the roads, just March-May for most of the rougher ones. I have the whole place cross referenced and mapped with notes on road conditions, points of interest, and when I last took the road.

Okay so Im thinking this. December 15th and the access road at LBL? Thoughts?

It would be more of a relaxed ride nothing extreme, since I have 4x2 and its a DD

I am still planning to hit LBL the day after Thanksgiving(this Friday). Then in December I will either do the toys for tots run on the 8th or I will see you on the 15th.

Trip postponed/cancelled for this day. Possibly pushed back to sometime in January due to its relative closeness to Christmas. Sorry if it messed things up for anyone but me and the other guy couldn't make it this day anymore.
