Breaking bolts loose

Anyone have any suggestions on how to break loose some REALLY seized bolts without a torch? Daddy is trying to replace the shocks on his Titan and can't get the back 4 bolts to break loose. He doesn't exactly want to torch them, being near the gas tank and all.

He's been spraying PB Blaster for a week and they still won't budge. Any other suggestions?

If a week of PB Blaster isn't working, try soaking them in Kroil overnight.

There's also freeze spray that does the opposite of the torch, so you use it to shrink the inside, whereas the torch you use to expand the outside, etc.

That, and go to the gym for long enough to develop some manhood.

I'd try the freeze spray 1st, as its faster....and, its hard to find Kroil sometimes, but its better than PB BLaster for some rust welds, but a PITA to actually APPLY. I've wrapped rusted stuff in rags, and then soaked the rags for example.

Overnight with Kroil does wonders though.

Tapping the bolts with a hammer (OK, slamming them...w/o mushrooming or thread damage...) to help drive the solvents in and crack the bonds before/during/after application helps too.

You can also try to heat them with a coil instead of a torch. it takes a little longer but they do work really well. The bad part of forcing them is that if you break the stud instead of breaking the bolt loose you end up with a lot more work for yourself.

As a last resort I would consider cutting the nuts off, and getting some replacements.
