August road trip

Okay, so, my wife and I are flying to Minneapolis on Friday and then driving from there to Belle Fourche, SD, then south through Wyoming into Colorado and flying back from Denver.

This is a "lets visit grandparents" trip. Her grandma is just east of Minneapolis and mine is out in Belle. But there is a lot of driving involved. It's been about 10 years since I've been to Dakota and my wife has never been. Other than the obvious Mt Rushmore and whichever Indian monument is out there. And some Black Hills action of course.

What else is there between SD and CO? We're planning on doing the one way high road from Estes Park through Rockies NP. So it's really the drive down from SD that I'm curious about. We have a booked hotel in Laramie, WY for an overnight. So keeping that in mind, where else can we go?

Will you be driving through while Stugis Rally is going on? If so, that is definitely worth a stop!

yeah, my grandma's house is about 15 minutes from Sturgis. And we will be there when the rally is going on. Though not sure if we'll be allowed to go because we're in a rental car and not on a bike. heh.

Oh heck, when I went, I arrived in an old school Chevy Lumina with my mom. And we are so not the leather biker kind of people. It was highly entertaining for a day.

Might be a little far from Laramie. But we hit quite a few of these on a trip through a couple of years ago. Ft Laramie , register rock, etc.

If by sturgis, Jewell and wind caves were cool.
Mt Rushmore for sure. Custer st park. Deadwood.

Beautiful country all around.

Now I wanna go back!
