35's the big question

Am I able to fit 35's with a SUS lift + a body lift? I already have 33's and a 3" AC lift and can stuff 33's and have no rub. But I wanna go a bit bigger before I jump to the SAS.

With the sas you could go up o a 37 but it is your gears you have to worry about.

If you wan 35s before the sas you could do a 3" bl and have minimal cutting or go no bl and deffinetly have to cut. Either way it goes sas or not you will need to think about regearing if you want to use 4lo anyways.

Lol that's another thing I planned on doing before hand because the 4.6 gears with 33's suck as it is its not hard to change gears just didn't know if some one has done this before and had to do certain things. I plan to upgrade to stronger cvs as well when I do this and even throw in the arb rear locker while I'm at it since I'm going bigger.

The only reason I'm not going to a SAS yet is because this will still be some what of a DD until I can get a reasonable dd for every day use and go all out on the X and keep it trailered but this will be a long drawn out process of course

Just out of curiosity, why would you go through the trouble of regearing and all that if you're going to SAS later?

Because I plan on keeping my stock rear axle and since its already regeared and locked I would just do a SOA set up if/when I do a SAS, that way I have half of what I want for awhile before I take it off the road.

But how long can you make it without 4wd? You don't want to run 5.14s (for example) and then your 4.6 up front.

I guess what I'm asking is: why regear the front and then throw it all out when you SAS? I'm just trying to see eye to eye with you.

Because that set up I will be keeping for a very long time. And I might not even go the SAS route depending on how that set up works, was just wondering if some one had even tried or seen if this has been done

You have a source for these?

Well I know 4x4 parts has "high quality" ones not sure how much better they are. But from all the abuse I've put my stock ones through, front coming off ground to on ground spinning never had an issue other then my auto hubs exploding. But when I do so I'm aware of what's going on so I don't push the button

Thanks. Just thought maybe you knew of some I didn't.

Well if sas is not a for sure or anytime soon I would just save up get the 3" bl then get your gears and lockers, then tires or tires and wheels what ever you want to do and change everything in a weeks time or so. Of course I would do the 3"bl first that way do don't have to cut a lot since sas is not a for sure or off in the distance. Then I would do the gears and new tires in a few weeks time frame.

Now when you put the 5.?? you know your gas mileage will go to around 13-16.5 mpg depends on your driving habits, and the 35s are not going to help.

Not trying to sound like i dont think you know that already just making sure.

Cut up your fenders wuss lol.

I wouldnt do it, between regearing, locker, new cvs, your looking at alot of money for minimal gain. Personally id keep the 33s throw some junkyard 4.9s in an the rear locker. You would be flat out amazed how much difference a locker makes. Its alot more noticable than an inch or so of tire.

Oh that I knot we put a mini spool in my friends Cherokee made a huge difference. The only thing about getting the 4.9's is I've searched around this area not a lot of Xterras or it would have been done

Yeah, I have the same problem around here but there are a few internet junkyard that ship to your door. Theres just not to many things 35s can do that 33s cant the size difference is so minimal and not to mention if you swap brands the sizing chart isnt always the same and so on. What tire are you on right now? Maybe just swapping to something more aggressive will give you the improvement your looking for.

When I started looking for SAS parts I found plenty of JYs in the south east that have the H233b axle you're looking for. Since the demand is low for them, the price isn't too high either.

Sitting on some BFG KM2's with 95% tread and fauxfox never thought of looking at those might have to take a look when I get back for a set

I've been kicking this around as well. The way it looks with just a PML and 2" BL on 33s it looks like 35s would fit w/o too much issue once the rest of the SL is done. Plus, it'd look badass.

I am running 4.90s from the factory, though at upping to 35's I'd probably want 5.13s. But I can find them for the front. I know the steering would have to be completely overhauled so it didn't buckle under the turning weight. I don't know. I'm kicking it around.

If you are going to regear why not put a 5.38 in so if you do a SAS you can run 37s? Also I was told that the 5.38s are better for 35s. Less stress? I'm not sure..

I don't think 35s are going to fit easily. I run 33.4" with a 3" SL (AC UCAs, sway-away torsion bars, re-arched leafs, extra leaf, add-a-leaf in back) and a 1" BL...I had to cut the bejeezus out of the front fender to accommodate backset only 1" less than stock, and the rears BARELY fit in there...maybe with a 3" BL it might work, but I wouldn't do it unless you SAS.

...and I mean BARELY

Real men park outside.. What is going to happen when you SAS terra? no more garage.. for Terra or Chef.

Yeah, I don't park her in the garage. The Honda lives there, along with my wife's car. I have Terra parked around the side, behind a fence, with a video camera on her. It's nice to be able to get her into the garage to work on her though
