2002 X - rear window/hatch washer nozzle missing??

I'm here again with an off-the-wall question. 2002 X/XE/V6/5 speed bought it used the other day. When I push the dash button for rear window washer and wiper, the wiper turns on but the washer fluid runs down the hatch rubber seal....I look at the back hatch when open and see the washer hose - I follow the hose and see where it goes into the hatch...I look on the "outside" of the hatch where the nozzle should be and I see a stainless steel plate - oblong with a "slot". Logic tells me I should pop out that plate and install a spray nozzle. Am I on the right track? I also assume this plate is for appearnce only as there are others on the body in various places. This prop. won't be the last of my wierd questions & trust members will bear with me. Dennis in Texas

I just took a look at my 2000 and I have a nozle at the top of my rear hatch. So your on the right track IMO - that plate should not be there.

Got brave and pried off the "plastic" thing, was held on w/glue. Behind it was the hole and inside was the hose that connects to the spray nozzle. Life is good!
