So after some isues with my acount due to the way that Tapatalk deals with registering I am starting a new thread to document my slow build of my 00 xterra with a 5 Speed transmission. I bought my truck last may from a guy who discovered that he didn't actually know how to drive a manual transmition.
This is how it sat whe it came home on 30/9.5r15 tires that were pretty bald.
I pulled the 31/10.5r15 tires off my totaled 4runner and slapped them on. Next was to deal with the radio and switch situation.
This is what I had when I bough it
I swapped the radio for a in dash dvd with backup camera and swapped the pocket for a period fabrication switch panle.
I also found a set of hilift mounts off the forum and mounted my trusty hilift and shovle combo on the roof. The top box is gone as I never used it after I gave up kayaking.
I also installed a ram mount on the drivers a pillar for a garmin gps and will be installing a hard wired charger when I am running wire for the switches and cb radio. The whip will be a molded plastic body mount right behind the drivers back door.
After driving it around for a bit I developed a nasty misfire and changed my distributer, it helped a bit but didn't fix it.
Turns out this was the culprit. Cylender #3 had a bad injector
I managed to get the injector out but destroyed the screws that hold it in, so I replaced them with some alen bolts. So that is how she sits now.
I am going to hardwire my compressor and install it in the pasanger rear quarter panel with the tank where the spare tire sits but first the spair needs to move so I will be installing a rear tire carier with a tow package when time and money permit. There are also plans for a front bumper with a winch, roof lights and some rear mounted floods in the bumper.
I am also considering pulling the roof basket and installing a locking tool box to get the tools out of the back of the truck and installing some floods on the sides.
