My 2007 FJ Cruiser had a 12v outlet in cargo area from the factory, really useful & used often. Is there a way to wire one in my 2011 P4X without getting into converter’s & all the shiat? Not a huge priority, just wondering & if cheap and easy would definitely do it. Tanx for any information

12V, 3 prong?? Say what?? As far as I know there is no such thing. DC voltage is positive and negative (ground) so you only need 2 connections. Are you sure that what you had was 12 volt, and not 120 volt AC? What did you plug in to that outlet on your FJ?

I’m not anything close to an electrician, definitely don’t screw around with stuff that I can’t see but will kill me , but ya… FJ had a 3 prong outlet in cargo area factory. I’ve plugged basically everything into it, coffee maker, heat gun, whatever… even ran my Harbor Freight 90 amp flux core welder off of it. Actually, one Christmas season I decorated the entire roof rack & bumpers with LED Christmas lights & ran it off that one outlet with no problem.

According to what I've found online it is 115 VAC with 400 watts while in park and neutral, otherwise 100 watts.

What he said.
Yes you could do it, but it would involve an inverter and some knowledge of wiring and fusing.

Ya, just talked to an electrician buddy of mine that’s over for a few beers & he’s saying the same thing as you. As useful as it is I’m not dropping $250-$350 on a converter. Oh well, thanks for the reply & information. Love the Forum
