Went to ure today and went to unlock my hubs and my whole hub started spinning. 10 out of 12 bolts snapped off. Any advice for extracting them.

depends it there is any shaft showing or not, if there is carefully grind a pair of flats to put a wrench on, or weld a nut on the end of the shaft. If they sheared off flush you can try an extractor, but will most likely end up drilling at least a few.

Use "easy outs," and drill carefully. Replace the bolts with studs and nuts rather than new bolts. This is a known issue with manual hubs on CJ jeeps so it doesn't surprise me that the issue occurs with hub conversions on Gen I Xterras as well.

See these threads and the stud kit on Amazon which illustrate the issue and the fix:

Damn if they are the hubs I sold you they have the hardest of the hard bolts available. Odd they all snapped must have been too hard. Held up to all my years of wheeling including GoneMoab trips just fine though. The factory studs were junk. Not sure how to extract them. I'd drill them the with left twist drill bits. If to hard you may have to go with carbide bits and extractors. They likely are not very tight in the holes.

Its not the hardness of the bolts, its the torque. The bolts tend to work loose (even with locktite) then wallow out the bolt holes in the hubs causing the hubs to become loose which leads to their failure. I switched to studs for the hubs on my jeep in 1999 after I broke two hubs in the space of 100 yards on the Golden Spike trail in Moab. Noever had a problem after that.

I think im just going to replace the wheel hub. Was looking at it again and noticed that all the threads are stripped in the hub and wallowed out. Not sure its worth the effort with the threads stripped and rounded out.
