I know that I want to do a lift with new UCAs and coilovers up front (thinking Nisstec Ultimate kit). What I don't know is what spring rate I should go with. The standard Nisstec rate is 600lbs on that kit.
I have done a lot of research on here and the other site. It seems like 600-650lbs is the sweet spot. I plan to add a Hefty Front bumper, and sliders very soon. I also plan on skids and a winch at some point. I may not be adding all of these at the same time ($$). So basically what I'm looking for is the spring rate that is going to be best for a full armored rig, but not be bone jarringly painful if I'm not able to add all the armor at the same time. That being said, I like the way the X rides stock, but I would not mind if the front end was a little firmer.
I'm thinking lift with 650lb springs, and add the front bumper at the same time. Should be enough weight on it to ride ok, but still have the capacity to add all the other armor down the road. I'm looking for a balance of the springs not being so soft that they sag drastically with the weight of full armor, because I want and need lift off road. But also not being so harsh that my daily driving is going to break my back. I know its going to be some sort of a compromise, just trying to get it right the first time.
