Just curious if anybody has done this with their rig still running ifs up front??? I know solid axle swapped rigs run it. Im kinda of thinkin you would end up with the porn star pose going on but wanted to see what yall had to say about it

edit, read it wrong. You'd just have to have a heck of a lift up front. 2nd gens have done it. OZ in particular, but he had a DB

Yea the back end would be really high.. there's no way to compensate in the front for it unless you put a solid axle under there

the only hold up is gonna be how high that rear end gets raised. Ill check on clubxterra and shoot M3C.CA's a pm to see how much lift he gained with it. Ya I was kinda of figurin on new UCA's anyways before I started entertaining the idea of spring over swap.

There was a thread on Pirate or club x cant remember which where the guy went spoa and moved the mounting points so it only gave him a 3" lift with a stock pack.

About the only practical way to do a spring over in the back and run IFS on a first gen is to french the front hangers into the frame, and run the OEM springs and shackles. Honestly it would be way to much work just to say that you did it, and then have to deal with the axle wrap that you would get from doing it. No real benifit but some big drawbacks, and some serious work.

How do you figure no benefit?

You get the lift you want plus no more low hanging springs to get caught and the spring plates are now raised. Theres lots of benefits its just not a direct BOLT ON so its not that common in the X community.

The axle wrap is the biggest issue but its a fixable one that isnt that tough.

Doing all of that work in the back and still running IFS??? that is where I do not see where the benifits outweigh the cost. If you are wheeling to the point where your spring hangers are whats holding you back, then the IFS has been in the dumpster for a long time. I just dont see the value to do it when a set of revolvers would give much better articulation without cutting into the frame.

Cost would be the difference. Revolvers were over $200 last time I checked and you could replace the X leafs with Ford Exploder leafs and french the front in for under $150 and run a standard lift shackle for a setup that would rock your socks & you wouldnt have to worry about the common x leaf pack breakage. Hell that alone is worth it as ive been through 2 sets myself bc of there retarded design.

this is pretty common around here, because of all the prerunners.i've thrown the idea up multiple times... shops do it for super cheap here.

thanx for the input yall... I got some friends that can weld and build rigs so tearin into is no the draw back. Decidin if i wanna go this route over revolvers is the question?? I been checkin into both... and am still undecided

MC3a's build thread he's runner flatter oem replacement springs in the back to keep the rear down. Only drawback is the $275 per side for springs. (That route justifies revolvers)
