I like the location but it cost me the use of the rear cup holders, cig lighter, and I can't open the console up entirely. Oh well.

I dunno, I don't have an amp in the X yet. I hooked it up in my dodge real quick and it seems to work just as well as the sub I have in it (that one is positioned pointing to the side, both are 8").

Working on installing the rest of the system now. I have a 4-channel amp going in with a pair of component speakers up front. I haven't bought the matching 1-ch yet though. I might steal the dodge's for now until I the amp I want presents itself for a price I want to pay haha.

I built a box almost exactly like that only with a kicker S8L7. Worked pretty well. I've since changed the design and added to it but while I had it, it was nice. Those L7's are just sick. Looks GREAT!

Amp in. I hooked it up as a 3-channel (rear channels bridged to run the sub) just to see how it would do and holy crap, the sub rocks. I was figuring it was going to be under-powered by this amp, but it seems to do just fine. So that saves the cost/hassle of installing a second 1-channel amp.

Got a new light bar. I wanted to mount one higher up than where I had the current one, but the double row I was using was too tall, so picked up a single row one.

Old one was down in the bumper opening. It was too close to the ground IMO and had a very tiny window where it would be aimed right or it resulted in either a hot spot in front of me or lighting up the trees.

Gutted out the lower grill and stuck it in there. I'm hoping the grill plastic will support it. I put some large fender washers under the nuts, will keep an eye on it.

I'm not sure yet if I want to leave it totally open like it is, or pick up some kind of mesh to fill it in. I was hoping to get away with minimal trimming to fit in there, but it looked like crap with only some of the honey comb in there, so I cut the rest out.

Buddy was over yesterday too. We hold regular Xterra meets :kewl:

Looks pretty good man! Does the light bar bounce much? Years ago I used to have 2 Hella 500's mounted right in front of there and they jumped around a lot going down the road

I hadn't driven it yet, so I just went out for a test ride and it does jiggle annoyingly. :tears2: Guess I'll be building some brackets to mount it off the core support (in the same location). While I'm doing that, will probably beef up or make new mounts for the stock driving lights as they jiggle and annoy the hell out of me too.

The light is awesome though. My old light was only a spot vs this one is a spot/driving. Get the super long range plus the close up/side light. Win.

Ah damn. Well at least you'll get to build some more unique stuff

And yea those bigger LED bars are seriously bright.. a couple Jeeps came thru our camp at the Big Dogs Ice Breaker around 1am with the huge double stacked LED bars on.. looked like it was daytime

Made up some brackets to support the light bar. Will test drive tonight and hopefully the jiggles will be gone. Seems pretty solid just smacking the bar/grill haha.

Bolts to the core support (one hole was already there AND threaded. Had to drill the other one though)

If you study the above pic, you will notice cracks in the core support on either side of the hood latch. I drilled the end of the cracks then welded them since I already had the welder in hand.

Just went for another run and the light bar is now jiggle free.

The stock driving lights jiggle because I'm missing the support bars for the bottom of the bumper. So it is actually the entire lower bumper cover jiggling.

Hell yea!

I just had the lower part of my bumper off this past weekend to repaint it so I'm trying to think of what bars you're referring to.. I realized that I cut that section of my bumper off a while back, so that's why I don't remember seeing them lol

Determined the light bar was a bit too much. It would blind me any time I passed something reflective (such as street signs...) so I picked up a yellow filter for it. Hopefully it will take the edge off. It was only a few bucks and just snaps on/off. Once again, will test when it gets dark. *edit* Yellow filter ftw! So much easier on the eyes now.

And on the topic of yellow lights, trying to get rid of these ones. They aren't nearly as bad as some I see out there, but it still bothered me.

Used a kit from Sylvania. This was shortly after putting on the UV coat, so hopefully it stays this nice.
