I am going to be doing a projector headlight conversion this week, but I want to buy my HID lights from ddm tuning rather than the retrofit source where I will be getting my projectors. I plan on getting the mini d2s projectors, which require an h4 bulb I see. so could I just get a 35w h4 HID kit? would I need to hi/lo beam option too? any help would be appreciated! thanks

alright cool, and would the harness be for the old 9007 bulb, or the new h1 or h4? sorry for so many questions, I just want to get the right stuff!

It would be the conversion harness so you would order it for 9007 (or whatever your stock bulbs are). While buying the projectors.

Do double check what your bulbs are. I've seen 9004 and 9007 listed for our vehicles, and the each use a different wiring pinout.

The guys at TRS told me they send the same harness for both 9004 and 9007 and you swap two of the wires to differentiate. I believe they said it comes ready for a 9007 and if you have 9004 you switch the two wires.

looks like the second one I linked are only for low beam applications, so would I just get the first projector that requires an h4 bulb, and buy these kits? http://www.ddmtuning.com/products/101/
it says those kits are low beam only though, so would I need to get the hi/lo kit or would the projector do the high low adjustment?

Yeah in that case I would get the H4 kit.

The projector has a flap inside of it like a card blocking light When the flap recieves power it lifts out of the way giving high beams.

Therefore the bulb stays the same brightness just the flap redirects the light.

So I would buy the ddm h4 kit, TRS h4 projectors, TRS 9007 wiring harness. With that it should all plug and play.

I posted that info about ddm and supporting a company that doesn't support their customers unless thrust into the spotlight isn't what I would do. Support companies like TRS because they have always been able to help me with no doubt the best customer service I have ever seen and used on occasion. Sure DDM works for some as stated above. I choose not to feed a company that has a horrible rep just because they haven't screwed me over.... yet. My 2cents. (I know it wasn't asked for so sorry if it offends anyone running ddm)

Fact is that more people need to say such things openly and without reservation or others will suffer. Thanks, Cameron, for the head's up. I wont be using them unless there's a change. Paying customers, like voting citizens, can shape biz behaviours.

I think this is similar to how some people refuse to buy from calmini because of their service/products. I try to give every company a fair chance, then form my opinion. for me, DDM and calmini have been excellent for me, for others, not so much.

Yeah me and DDM I feel you get what you pay for. I know they make crap but its obviously cheap. Ordering I figured it would only hold a year. Before they would sizzle. I was right, never held it against DDM. Its a low quality product as the price shows. But, they are cheap and they do work. I don't mind replacing them occasional as I use my driving lights so rarely it would be silly to plunk major coin on something I rarely use. I did not use them for my headlights. In a legal situation they just have to work. So I invested in TRS.

I have used the lifetime warranty through TRS multiple times. Not that they are low grade just some rough bumps here and there. I am currently using the warranty right now after some rough off roading at Taylor park. I notified them of the defective part yesterday. They were in the mail yesterday and they will arrive tomorrow most likely. Ill keep it updated. The best part is that they don't require the defective part first like DDM. If you want the same process through ddm I would have had to put an 80 dollar refundable deposit down first. TRS builds a trust with their customers that is unparalleled. I will recommend them until they show me they can't be trusted. (I.e. never)

that stuff should have a lifetime warranty on it, you don't pay to replace any of that do you?

Yeah its like $30 Not worth the troubles of calling complaining sending crap back waiting being without the lights. As a bonus I also get a spare ballast and bulb set to put on the shelve in the garage after replacing the bad ballast. Making it offset the expense in my mind. As the next time it happens I reach for parts in minutes. If it was the TRS stuff I would go thru the warranty cause its expensive.

looks like I might be able to do projectors after all, halogens just weren't cutting it. do any of you guys with projectors get any shake from them when you go over bumps?

I personally don't get a jitter or shake. If you do its generally the square headlights. The cheap Eagle eye headlamps are pretty loosely mounted. Mine have been solid though.

cool, if I went with the ddm kit though, that may change that right? the bulbs don't shake too bad on my 6" lights I converted, but I definitely don't want any shake from my headlights. does the shake usually result from something In the projector, or is it from poorly/loosely mounted bulbs?

Those damn square headlights are basically floating there I get some shake but not much at all honestly only over deep sharp bumps
