New but Not

Hey Guys,

I’m new to the Forum but not new to the X, I’ve owned a couple and I’m on my way to convert 4x2 into 4x4. I’ll be looking to sell the 4x2 transmission, it’s in great condition.

I’ve always had them as a daily driver but this time I get to have a toy. I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated, I’ll add pictures and make posts as I go. If I remember .

Cheers!

Sounds great! We love build threads!

I've almost always driven one daily too.

Alright so my X has been parked out at my father’s house until I was ready to build her, I have a buddy helping me pick it up today. So yesterday I went out and make sure it was accessible and would actually move .

I had to do a 4 corner brake service, as everything had seized up. But she’s ready to roll, literally haha. I had previously removed the 4x2 Transmission.

Looking forward to getting into it.

Cheers

Okay guys I got the X moved to my buddy’s shop, I’m grateful that he’s letting me use a hoist. Not sure if that’s frowned upon in the DIY community but I just thought it would be a whole lot better working off the ground haha. I took some pictures for you guys so you can see what I’ve done and what I’m working with. The frame is looking great!

So a bit of a back story, the last X I owned was 4x4 and before I sent her to the yard I did some picking because I knew I’d be converting this 4x2 into 4x4. So I recovered the front differential and crossmember, front knuckles and axles, 4x4 Transmission including transfer case and rear differential.

The picture I posted of the transmission intact and then the one of it separated are the same Transmission, I had to separate it because the transmission mount had broken off and I need to weld it back together or go pull a part from the yard if I can find one in good shape.

Anyways let me know what you guys think of everything so far and feel free to point things out if you have any ideas for me.

Cheers!
Also should I make a new thread for the build or just keep adding to this thread? I’m not sure what’s preferred
