80s Grand Waggy D44. Craigslist. Paid $75. By absolutely no means an immediate project, but at some point there will be a SAS & 35s in my future.

For the money, I couldn't pass on the axle. It's in pretty good shape despite having ALL the stock brackets cut off. Complete from hub to hub minus brake calipers. Interestingly it has the full time slugs in the ends instead of hubs. Didn't know the Jeep came that way ever.

The plan is to store it for right now. Start slowly massing parts together. So far on the list is an ARB, 5.14s, new shafts, all new bearings and seals, new ball joints, the most badass brake calipers and discs I can get, and I still kind of want automatic hubs if I can find them. The notion of being able to get into 4Hi on the fly is something I just don't want to lose.

Honestly, this thing could sit in my garage while slowly building it for a LONG time and it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Also, as an interesting side note. About 6 months ago I purchased an independent rear axle for my Mustang. And that is currently in the garage as well. Weird how cars get a major upgrade from losing a live axle and trucks get an upgrade from gaining one. Years too. Putting a mid 80s straight axle in a 2002 truck and putting a 2004 independent axle into an 87 car. Funny how that works out.
