How common is it for 1st gen owners to upgrade to a turbo?

Reason I ask is I am an owner of a 1988 300zx turbo , it is really quite common for owners of the 80's Z to swap in a VG33 add a turbo and get a really big power boost 400+ hp and Tq. Just wondering if many here have made that jump.

Finally Building It

This build has been a long time coming I originally bought the Xterra when I was 19 it was my first real car.
