Sounds like you have either a bad bulb or someone was messing with wires and switched the high beam and headlight wires.

Stand in front of the truck and have someone else toggle the high/low beams while you're looking at it. See if they are actually backwards.

i.e. See if the one goes to high and the other goes to low when switched. If so, you've got a backwards wire on the plug that goes to the headlight that is in high mode when the low beams are on.

And when you say "the same", you do mean that the bulbs are the same model? While the wrong bulb _shouldn't_ fit into the housing, anything is possible if someone wants it to happen. I only ask because AutoZone said the truck took a 9007 bulb but is actually a 9004 (or something like that).

The AIM of the lights is typically different.

Is it possible that the angle that you see the brightness from, standing in from of the X, is affecting how bright they look, so that if aimed more at your eyes, it would look brighter than if aimed off from your eyes, etc.

Also, you can swap P/D side bulbs, and see if it changes with the bulb, or, if its the side itself.

If its the bulb, so its brighter with one bulb, no matter which side its in...just replace the dim one, it might be a wussy bulb.

If swapping bulbs doesn't change the brighter side, then, check to current at the socket for the bulb, to see if they are getting the same juice. Do this for the hi and lo.

All the wires look original and not tampered with so im going to break out the multimeter and get some numbers.

Also see if both filaments in both bulbs are working. And to swap bulbs to see if the issue swapped sides.

:D

well... upon closer inspection one bulb was the correct 9004 and one was a 9007 with the label worn down so problem solved with a new 9004.

Thanks for the insight guys and my mistake on the bulbs
