You can always use a grinder and chop that kc bolt off, unless u lookin to re-use it lol. If the bolt for the bumper doesnt thread in right somethings prob messed up, be careful off cross threading. Either way you can always just drill straight through the chassis and pop a bolt all the way through. I think I got 2 like that on mines.

How much gap is in the front? I would look at lowing the front of the bumper by 1/4" or more if you can. I say that because of body flex, and you don't want that thing flexing and the plastic being in the way and cracking.

Nah I shouldn't have to do anything that drastic. They're on the brush guard now but I want to re-use them on the shrock bumper....might just try some PB blaster cause that is the shiz on rust...might just work on glue too.

Hmm good point its only like a finger on the fenders so maybe 1/4" there and less at the plastic grill piece....looks like I get to have some more fun!!!

If you do go ahead and drill all of the way through the horns, use some plate as a big washer to spread the load. The horns are part of the crumple zone and if you over tighten them it will crush the horns, thus making them weaker than when you started.

Question though, wouldnt the bumper serve as that plate you mentioned? At least on one side? On the inside I have washers of course. Im not to sure exactly what a crumple zone is. Especially with a rolling chassis. Must have to drop it off a cliff to see that happen lol.

Its designed to crush on impact reducing the impact to the driver by absorbing the impact in a collision.

Its braced on one side but the other the bolts try to pull thru and dent the weak section of frame. Once its dented it loses its structure. If you put a plate like Granite mentioned it spreads the load more effectivly over the mount and makes the mount stiffer. So the bolts can be tightened down tighter as well.

And that plate is welded to the frame horn, on the top and bottom.
