You'll be fine with that spring rate and no sway bar.
I’m hoping so. At first it was very drastic because I’m also coming from coils with lots of preload already so these new ones have the initial roll before they “catch.” The third day driving yesterday (and first on the highway) I got much more comfortable pretty quickly. In a week or two I’ll put the RTT back on and then see what that changes and then decide, but hoping to just be done with it.

The function of a sway bar is to raise the effective spring rate on the outside (of a curve) corner by applying the unloaded force from the inside corner to it via the sway bar.

This allows you to run a lower rate spring on each corner, which improves ride, while maintaining a high enough effective spring rate to make the vehicle stable in turns.

I've been happy with how my 650lb coils handle the weight of my Xterra. I think you'll be fine with it, even with the RTT. With the better shock, you should notice that the ride is still good but body roll in quick maneuvering is controlled as well. And you'll be surprised that it won't violently rock when you go into parking lots with a little speed on.

Holy cow! Hadn’t realized you got a Wam bumper and winch until I saw them just now whilst checking out your new coilovers. Jeesh, what a machine!
I’ve been busy! But I think finally winding down on non-maintenance stuff now. Unless a locked diff pops up locally for cheap the only plans I have now are spark plugs and cam/crank sensors. And to get out and do a lot more camping this year.

Installed the Spidertrax 1.5” I bought from @SledheadX. Love the look of them, other than the camber I’ll get fixed tomorrow.

I followed the steps from @AlbatrossCafe ’s build thread to notch the fender and fold it up, then cut/melted the plastic to contour it. Ended up with plenty of clearance. I only have 265-75-16 but when I taped a piece of paper on the tire sticking 1.5” out from the tread it just barely touched and I didn’t want to take any chances.

I also painted the non-contact part of the Spidertrax graphite since the blue would’ve been very visible. Nice and hidden.

Still working out the best way to pack and organize things, but the wolfpack containers recommended by @SledheadX were a huge help. I can fit more in one of those than an 8gal action packer, and by replacing the action packer (recovery gear) and my two previous camping bins (Plano Sportsman chests) I saved a ton of space and can also stack and just use one tie down.

Also hit 100,000 miles yesterday. Not a great photo since there was nowhere to pull over and my son had to take it. But in the 6-digit club. About to celebrate by doing all fluids (except radiator and brake both recently done), spark plugs, valve covers, and crank/cam sensors.

The piece I had made to mount Rotopax to the hilift attachments on the bumper also works great for a 5lb propane tank powertank mount. No clearance issue with the hatch and will just require drilling two holes in the tank mount since the holes don’t line up.

Don't leave that there. A buddy of mine had his bottle stolen off the back of his GX in a Lowes parking lot.
Yeah plan is to take it off between trips. I’d be worried about it getting stolen or somebody just opening the valve. The steel band won’t be removable once I mount it, so I just need to figure out a way to stabilize that so it’s not bouncing around.

I realize I have lots to update in the main post and will do that when I’m not exhausted. Yesterday evening took off the Gobi and this evening dropped in the modified Front Runner I bought from @AdventureRider81. It’s an extra slat (8”) longer and shortened to be closer to the body.

Here’s how it looks: 66C950AF-724A-4C5C-B17C-88234D375434.jpegE015BF75-68F5-49B7-B7E0-9A9D3E275ACA.jpeg65235482-3223-4566-848A-622D177CA512.jpegF661EAE9-CB7F-4EE2-A4E6-1005407CCD1A.jpeg

Previously I could enter/exit the garage while the RTT made contact with the gasket, but now even accounting for the tent risers I have 3” more clearance… which means I can lift another inch or so and not have to worry about clearing the garage.

Next I need to figure out what I’m doing up front because I have a feeling the rack will be howling on the highway tomorrow. I may add more pod lights to fill in the gaps, or I may do a low profile bar with a modified fairing hiding most of it. Not sure yet. Also had to delete my rear corner lights, so I may do a side-shooting scene light on each side. Not sure yet.

Reworked lighting a bit. Headlights are LED projectors from TEQ Customs. The rear halos are amber switchbacks, so they blink amber when the turn signal is on. Switched bumper lights to KC Flex Era 4 and moved the SS3 Pro that were there down to my fogs with the amber lens.

Also took advantage of a Black Friday deal on the Tuff Stuff Stealth RTT that came with a free 180 awning. Not sure I’m sold on the awning yet vs the regular pull out type (which also has the full room), but we’ll see. Haven’t been able to mount the tent yet due to size/weight but hope to get it on soon.

Oh, very nice. Same style as mine. And the mattress is twice as thick as the one that came in mine. I'd recommend testing it to see if you can leave your bedding in there as well. Makes setup much easier when you don't have to haul shiat up there.

I’m 240lbs and a side sleeper, so the mattress it came with wasn’t going to work for me. I bought a 2-piece mattress from iKamper that’s air and expanding memory foam that goes up to about 4” thick. Bonus is that compressed it’s even thinner than half my mattress, so I should be able to keep my bedding up there.

We use a 3in that's a similar design in ours. You're built about like I am. I'm comfortable on the 3 inch one, so you should be very comfy on the 4 in mattress.
