Expensive!!!

Damn, I've been looking to do some more mods but it's so damn expensive!!! Snorkel? $400+. 2" BL? Not bad, probably around $150 or so, but with 31's and a 1.5 inch PML, it'll look a little out of proportion so I'd need bigger tires, well, that'd be around $1,000+. Rear tire carrier? Yea, that' probably around $700 with the bumper. Damn! This hobby is so damn expensive!

My number 1 thing to do is get a BL and bigger tires but who knows when I can save up that much for the tires. I keep seeing all these builds and I'm like ffs how the hell does one afford all of that!!!!!!!

It took me about 3 years. I drove around with a body lift and 3" suspension lift with 29 " tires for a year before I could afford wheels and tires. Still dont have bumpers and going to build my own skids.

How to afford:
1. Work a job
2. Have 1 expensive hobby (truck) all other hobbies should be cheaper
3. Make sure to take out N number of dollars from each paycheck to put into an account for truck mods if that's what you want to do.

Sidenote - many of the big events have raffles where you can win some really big stuff. So if you're not attending those, perhaps you should look into spending your money on getting to WENT, Gone, ECXC, etc.

Also - replace things as you need them. I did my tires only when I needed a new set. The thing I blew my money on was my lift. I did tires, rear bumper, lift, skids, front bumper for the main stuff. If I did it all over, it would be tires/lift/skids/bumpers.

Also keep your eyes out for used deals. Got my gas skid (only one i have) for $100 shipped. Picked up a whole rear axle with arb locker installed for $500. Picked up a front diff for $200. Got a lokka when they first came out for about $270 shipped. All together i will be locked front and rear and regeared to 4.9 for under $1000 and have a spare axle with spare half shafts.

I've got the one for the Pathfinder. I like it, but that's just me ;)

As thecoalition, I do upgrades as she need needs it, and I'm always looking for deals too. Best way to do it, but not if your someone to changes vehicles after 2-3 years...

When I bought my truck, she was stock but the rear bumper needed some TLC, but less then a year after I lost my job so that never got done. I did more important things and upgrades, and finally, 6 years later (last year) I finally replaced it after it really started to piss me off with the plastic cover not wanting to stay clipped in and jamming in the hatch, especially in the winter, and she was rusting pretty badly/

Another example; I got a new set of rims for the truck, and though about upgrading my 32s to 33s at the same time, but decided it wasn't in the budget and just get the 32's transfered over. Well the first tire the shop ended up tearing the bead (and breaking the machine) on the first tire (MTR kevlars), so not only do we need to replace that tire, but also the other tire on that axle because of the wear to match the diameters and not strain the diff. That being said, I might as well change all 4 and upgrade to 33's while I'm at it (and they're selling them to me at cost for the inconvinience).

But **** happens, best is to roll with it, and when life gives you lemons, you don't just make lemonade, you throw in some vodka and enjoy it by the pool!
