Wouldn't you know it 3 weeks with the new X and I had a guy slam on the brakes in front of me at a yield and I ran into the back of him. Luckily I was going slow and it was just a major love tap to the back of a civic. I punctured his bumper and my X had some front bumper scratches. The scratches are minimal but the right bumper is pushed back about a 1/2"-1" and about a 1/2" from my tire. I was wanting to get a new bumper so now I guess I will get one.

Any recommendations? Do you think I will have any trouble or what I should inspect before doing anything??

****ty. That's always a good feeling.

Best bet is to check the frame horns in the front with a yard stick and see if there is any deflection from the main frame to the horns. You need to find a straight but of frame and put a known straight edge on it so that you can go forward and see if there is any bending. The front horns have built in crumple zones that look live wavy metal, so compare the two sides and make sure they are the same.

If there is any bending or deflection you'll need a frame shop (or a come-a-long and a big tree) to pull it straight before you can do an aftermarket bumper.

You probably just bent the metal mounting tabs on the bumper if it wasn't that hard. Check the frame horns to make sure they were not damaged as that is the part of the frame that aftermarket bumpers mount to.

Ok crawled up her tonight and removed the "plastic lower Skid plate" under the bumper. Check the frame horns and the driver side one is slightly tweaked nothing really noticeable but it is off a little. I was able to get the bumper back aligned by loosening some of the framing bolts and a good tug and tightened them back up and all is good.

Now what? Do I need to get a frame shop to pull that perfect or do a come along tied to a tree? What do you think a frame shop would charge?

By the way this was done with hardly any speed at all and hitting a civic and did barley anything to it. How in the world would these frame horns hold up off road because this was nothing.
