Have to replace the clutch in my 06 xterra SOON and wanting to know what clutches are good and last good, and which are junk. I have been looking at Jim Wolf Technology clutch, kind of thinking about going with the metallic over the organic one just because i have larger tires and a lift in it, do i have to upgrade the flywheel if go with the better one? the other one i found is a spec stage 2+. any thoughts would be great. also is any one around wisonsin that wants to install one?
Thanks
Tim

Spec and JWT both build great clutches, but if that Spec stage two is anything like the one I put in my Focus (I was planning on supercharging it at the time), it's too much clutch. The clamping force on a stage two Spec is at least 5 times the stock clutch, and you don't need that much, even with bigger tires. It's going to require an upgraded clutch master cylinder as well. And the effort required to declutch is going to get old quick. After driving my Focus for a couple of months with a stage 2 clutch, I got in my brother-in-law's Corolla and damn near kicked the clutch pedal through the floor of the car. Anyway, a Stage 0 Spec clutch is still more clutch than the stock Nissan clutch, and it will still be easy enough on your left leg in traffic.

I my self would do a stage two. Difference between truck and car is night and day. I just burnt up my oem clutch in a 1 gen and would like a stage two, to climb obstacles better. With the 49ers holding power of a stage two you can control your climbs better.

Depending on your usage a stock clutch maybe a option. First off you know what life to expect from it as your currently using it. The one you replace it with will last just as long. Secondly, if you offroad frequently the stock clutch is less grabby and therefore easier to slip when you need to slowly creep of over say a boulder path or difficult section of trail. A performance clutch should snag and bite more quickly narrowing your ability to slip with ease. Causing you to stall the engine more frequently.

But, likewise if your on the road more then the trail or you frequently drive with a trailer. Perhaps one with more bite is what you need.

JWT is a great clutch brand! To bad you don't live in Tennessee or I would have recommended Tennessee Clutch. You just take him your clutch and flywheel and builds it like you want!

This is what he made for my 450hp 240sx and it hold way more power I believe. Cost me 114 out the door to turn the flywheel, respring the flywheel, and build the disc
