Okay so quick question there is a local shop (only shop for like 20 miles that will tune my SWR for me so I don't have to buy the meter. I heard you need like a wide open space to tune SWR. He doesn't seem like the type to not know what he's talking about but I don't want an improper tune. He owns a shop that specializes in CB and HAM radios. Does anyone know if he'd be able to accurately tune my SWR without being in the middle of an open field?

He will get it tuned much better than not tuning at all.

I tuned mine in a semi empty Lowe's home improvement parking lot.

The real thing is to make sure you aren't like up against a wall or light post or something. have the antenna free of obstructions...including someone that may be holding the SWR meter if you hook the meter up to the antenna side.

If you are trying to squeak every last fraction of a mile out of your set up, then sure, find the absolutely most flat remote place you can. Otherwise, even a few parking spots of emptiness should be decent enough

Cool thanks for the answer the firestik was tuned pretty well from factory no adjustments were made but my mount was improperly set up so we fixed that and I paid him for helping me with that.
