I am thinking about making a skid plate for my ARB bumper. does anyone know if It will affect airflow dramatically or cause any issues? right now the bottom/lower portion of the ARB is wide open and id like to protect the radiator better.

Are you running a body lift? If you are keeping the shroud around the fan is pretty important. Other than that enclosing the bottom really does nothing for the cooling

I do have a body lift. but I do not have the shroud around the bottom. it's been like that for a year and a half without problems. just to be clear I was thinking of putting the skid plate In this area. you should be fine, it is the body lift that affects the air flow, and most of that is affected by people not using the shroud.

It will be stronger without the holes, unless you dimple them.

Mine is solid and always has been, the only time the temp has ever risen for me it was over 110 outside, and I was parked with the AC running.

If I may interject for a moment, so you are saying that a person should try to keep the lower shroud on the radiator even after the body lift?? I have mine sitting in a box of old parts... should I/ could I modify it to make it work with the bodylift and put it back on? I was under the impression that you just kinda got rid of it because it wouldn't work with the bodylift. I have been noticing my temp gets kinda high while sitting in traffic... is this the cause?!

I've had mine off for a year and a half and been on many long trips with my x and never had any problems with overheating. even with the skid plate I just put on I haven't had any problems.

There could be other causes, yes, but I am guessing this is definitely a contributing factor. And the long trips are just fine, its when you sit in traffic going 2-3 mph for anywhere from 30 mins to 2-3 hours that starts making it overheat.
