3 inch lift question

Ok, I did the pml and I would like to finish it. I have been reading all the threads and I have a few questions. If I buy new uca's and t-bars, will I have to re-crank the t-bars, AC says the uca's give 3 inch lift. Also I have lift shackles and I would like to add 1.5 inches in the rear to finish the 3. do they make them any more? AC seems to only have 3 inch lift which would mean I would have to buy new shackles. right?

I believe the shackles are the same, you would want to add another leaf or two to get the extra height in the rear

yes you will have to re-index them im sure.. but the UCA's allow the bars to be cranked more and re-aligned to the factory specs..

If it were me Id buy new T-bars as well... That would really finish the whole SL up... and since your going to need to be re-aligned anyways why wait..

Is there a reason why the new tbars need to be cranked? I will do it and I am not arguing, I am just looking for information since the control arms raise it 3 inches. Right?

If I understand correctly, the Upper Control Arms don't actually lift the front at all. They allow you to crank the torsion bars further while still allowing for proper alignment

The T-bars are springs and spring rate, you are installing stiffer springs with the new bars, has nothing to do with ride height. When you are cranking up the bars you are not changing the spring rate but rather setting the ride height.

ok, thanks I was reading something on cx about AC's uca's have a grease able ball joints but it doesnt say it on ac's site. I am sorry for so many questions but I just want to know why I am doing certain things, I have been reading a lot of the threads on cv trying to figure out which way is the best way to go. I am looking at doing the front first and then adding this at another time. http://www.purenissan.com/wd22_add-a-leafs.htm

AC UCA's have grease able ball joints and grease able bushings. I ran my truck for about a year with a PML and UCA's and added the AAL later.

There is Calmini and AC's UCA's, Rancho also makes a SL but never seen anyone buy the UCA alone. If you already have the shackle in the rear from AC, then they sell the basic SL kit and you choose if you want the AAL or shackles, so you tell them you want the AAL and your set. I did it that way without the shackles and mind sets level, but im going to get the shackles now to get that extra little bit out of the rear, plus people say it helps with flexing also. I also have the factory torsion bars still in and have not had an issue with those YET! No matter if you reuse them or get new ones you will need to re-index them to get the correct lift while cranking them up, that was the only issue we had when doing mine cause there is no instructions of what to do, in the end it only needed to be moved by just a few splines, I just can't remember now excactly how many.

I think my t-bars are going because I have the shrocks bumper and skids up there. I cranked them already and it didnt raise it up at all. I amso noticed that AC's t-bars are 30% and the others are 20%. I was looking at the add a leaf and the single leafs lift it 2.5 inches and the shackles add 1.5 so my rear would be raised up 4 inches. heres are the links.

When I did my AAL I removed the overload leaf like it recommended, plus I did not like how it stuck out. I got about 2 inches of lift in my rear...im sure that settled a little by now. The amount of lift may also be determined by the amount of sag in your OE ones you have now, I doubt you will get 4" from the shackle and the AAL combined but nothing would suprise me either, not all Xterras come out the same after installing the same parts believe it or not.
