What IS this thing?

What is this thing that is mounted inside the right frame rail back by the bumper, and what does it do? I have not been able to find it on any diagrams I've brought up on the 'net, and there are no ID numbers on it. I assume it has something to do with venting the fuel system?

You got it. It is part of the fuel vapour purge system. Not sure if that is the correct terminology, but that is the system it is part of.

Thanks. Any ideas on a part number? You can't see it in the picture, but this one is broken. I need to get a replacement.

Is this the right part, "18795M, WATER SEPARATOR"? I swear this thing is like the unknown mystery part; the diagram is kind of vague (for one thing, the mounting bracket looks different), and there are no images of it that I can find on the 'net.
